What is it?

Culmulative and Reserved Buffs

The students under a mentor will accumulate additional experience via hunting and divide the accumulated ratio in the form of a buff. Through this buff the mentor and his student can acquire extra experience while hunting.

Cumulative Buff

When a pupil hunts the "cumulative buff icon" will appear on the top left of the screen. It will store a certain ratio of experience (Note: but will not take away from the original experience value given to him)

From 24 hours after the start of the accumulation, the buff will not store any more experience points.

Reserved Buff

When the mentor is online, the student can "transmit" the buff to his mentor. The mentor will receive 20% of the culmulative buff, and the student will receive 80% of the culmulative buff.

The reserved buff will disappear 24 hours after the "transmission" regardless of whether it has been used or not.

The accumulated experience value in the reserved buff will decrease and be added to the experience gain while hunting.

Note: This system sounds confusing enough. Here's an example.

Let's say the culmulative buff will accumulate 10% of the pupil's exp gain.
- Pupil hunts 10 mobs x 100 exp each = buff contains 1,000 exp.
- Pupil transmits the buff.
- Mentor gets 200 on his reserved buff.
- Student gets 800.

Let's say the mentor and the student will use 10% of the reserved buff while hunting.
- Mentor is hunting. For each mob he will lose 20 experience points from the reserved buff and gain 20 additional exp.
- Same with student, he will lose and gain 80 exp points.

I really need to join an academy then. I thought I read something about level restrictions, about lvl 40 - 59 being apprentices. Do apprentices get anything different than students, or are they both the same thing but just different names?

Im not sure if the assistants also get that buff. But the way it works is you have to be grinding in the same pt as one of your apprentices (like a powerlevelling scenario). While doing so, there is a blue icon in their buff line that keeps building as they gain exp. Once you are done grinding togetner, they can left click that blue icon and transfer the cumulative to the guardian (they get 80% of the total while the guardian gets 20%). It adds about 10% exp and sp while grinding and each kill takes off 10 points from the buff.

One aprentice graduated last night I think, and I don't have any honor points either.

So assistants get nothing, perhaps when I hit lvl 60 the guardian will get honor points from me, we shall see.

So basically what you're saying is Assistants get 10% of the honor points, and nothing else? If Assistants don't get an accumulated buff, how are they 'assisting' the academy? I thought they were supposed to be there to help the guardian. Seems they would have to give something to the apprentices in order to gain a portion of honor points.

Yes, that's how it works.

Also, the basic idea of the Academy is to help new players get used to the game. So it's the apprentices that get most exp from the accumulated buff and from graduating. The honor points are there to reward the guardian for taking time to teach the game rules to new players. Assistants, being moderately high level, assist the guardian in sharing the knowledge, and also get honor points for it.

Can someone tell me exactly how the academy members transmit the cumulative/accumulative buff stuff. I have had a full academy since the day after the Euro update, but have never seem the buffs or any icon for the buffs. What do the members need to do and how?

When an Apprentice starts killing stuff he gets a blue icon, the cumulated buff. This buff collects points for every monster the Apprentice kills for 24 hours.

When the 24-hour countdown has ended (or earlier if he wants) the Apprentice should left-click the icon. This will share the points with the Guardian. The Apprentice will get 80% and the Guardian will get 20% of the points. The Guardian has to be online for this to happen.

A new red icon (the accumulated buff) now appears for both the Apprentice and the Guardian. This buff gives 10% more EXP for every kill and it lasts for as long as there are points left (with a 24 hour limit). So the more points the Apprentice has collected with the blue buff, the longer the red EXP-buff lasts.

This is a continuing feature, so as soon as the blue buff is shared and becomes a red buff, a new blue buff appears for the Apprentice and starts collecting points again.

Hmm I have one problem.

I joined an academy with my euro char and got the buff. Then, because I never understood what it was, I never right clicked on it. The buff disappeared in 24 hours and I never got the red buff. Now I have changed academies twice, and haven't got the cumulated buff again.
What do I have to do to get that buff? Be in autoshare party with guardian/ guardian assistant?

That's absulutely not true! I have tested that part and it's a lot different.

1. When hunting monsters you'll get points added to the comulated buff based on:
1.1. Your level (X)
1.2. The monsters level (Y)
1.3. Your gap (Z)
When you are same level as the monster you'll gain 10 points. If you're higher, 10 - (X - Y). If you're lower you'll get 10 + (Y - X). This counts for gap 0. If you have gap, you'll get as much less of those points as you have gap. A farmer (9 gap) will therefore get just 1 point.

2. When hunting monsters, the accumulated (red) buff will grant you a 10% experience bonus (not the 20 and 80 exp bonus, but 10%!). The accumulated buff decreases the same way as teh comulated buff raises (I've got 4 points for each mob on my blader and lost 4 points each time then. On my euro character I lost 10 points all the time with same level monsters, gap 0).

Also a warning to everyone! Comulated buff (blue) will raise at most by 10, not more, but accumulated (red) can decrese by more than 10. I'd rather hunt mosters that aren't a higher level than YOUR_LEVEL + YOUR_GAP. Else you'll just lose worthfull points.

So far, as anyone didn't see anything different I guess there is nothing they get. The invitiation of them gets just honor points to the guardian.

Untill someone doesn't find any difference I guess there will be no confirmation on that. Maybe someone could kill 10 monsters without an academy and 10 after an invitation as a junior guardian. Might be that they have any experience bonus, not sure.
