When do you get durability reduce red stat when elixir fail?

I'm not sure if this has been asked before, but after what + when you fail will you get the dura reduce red stat? can you get it when you fail going +4 to +5?

you can lose durability from +4 > +5, but i dont think you can break the weapon from +4 > +5, so imm is needed form +5.
and @ Yino, broke 2 spears ? o.0, lol buy ur self a goddam immortale

You guys are wrong... immortal and steady are only needed if you go from +5 to +6!!!!

i tend to agree with D2A. i have never had dura reduce failing from +4 to +5 before. but i am not a player who does +5 alot which is why i came here for confirmation.
anyway after seeing the feedback here, i added steady to my +4 boots and tried +5. weee! it succeeded! then i added steady to my +4 chest and tried again. it failed

but the steady was still there. i guess there is a chance to get dura reduce on +4->+5 but the chance is slim.

nah i havent heard of anybody destroying from +4 to +5 or losing durability.
as far as i know, it starts at +5 like D2A says.
the fact that steady was still there just means that even though it failed, it
didnt lose durability. if your steady DID go away after failing +4 to +5, then
your item did actually lose dura but the steady took the loss away.
