What exaclty does jewelry do?

I've played this game for a while but i never took the time to find out what jewelry does. Anyone care to explain?

Basically, without getting too complicated, it's just your first line of defense. A VERY IMPORTANT first line of defense.

That's how much of a different jewelry makes. So make sure that you have it, and you have good jewelry.
Also, you can add things such as STR / INT bonuses to your jewelry, and with it, you can become immune to certain things (at the current Cap), such as Ice. Once again, at the CURRENT CAP, no jewelry = no ice immunity.

I've never figured it out, how do you change your forum name, is it a mod thing or can you do it yourself?

Absorption

Example

Ring - 15% Phy/Mag
Ring - 15% Phy/Mag

Necklace - 20% Phy/Mag

Earrings - 17% Phy/Mag

Add them together and 67% Absorption, of course it can be a lot higher.
