they just stayed there, when i came back an hour or so, they had moved outside of the gates, and were in a perfect line, perfectly spaced, dead on the floor.

Bots after the ban is a more realistic answer. Or a multi-client bot runner who was banned trying to get his gold farming business up and running again lol.
