exchange box

A couple of people have offered to "exchange" something with me. they will put something in the box but I dont know what they want to exchange. do they want money? am i just suppost to guess what they want to exchange? offer them different items untill they accept?
I understand the concept of an exchange but I just dont know what the other person wants. any help would be very much appriciated.

when they exchange and you dont like the item, just click the box away.
if you DO like the item, shift-click their name and whisper em how much or
what they want for it.
if you dont want ppl to be able to irritate you with exchanges, press ESC,
go to options, set game and uncheck the exchange box.

what he say ^ also there are some nice players that offer equipment for free and give you gold, anything from 50-100k. maybe i just look too poor because i have receive a lot of equipment and gold from other players. lol

i always confirm it - if they let you have it for free then thats cool lol otherewise they ask x amount of gold and we trade it again lol
