Alchemy Question

Hi all i'm new here and i've got a question. I have a weapon (currently +4) I would like to +5, but I do not have any means to obtain immortal or astral. Also I wouldn't trust astral sellers by passing them my item.

So my question is this: will the weapon break (red durability reduce or disappear) without astral and immortal on it, IF i fail from +4 to +5?

What i heard from some people in-game was that it only breaks if u fail from +5 to +6 and so on. So i hope to shed some light on this matter, thank you guys in advance :)

Immortal is almost a must from +6
Astral is always good, if you have +6 or more
And try to get steady and lucky in it.

Yeah but thing is I can't get immortal OR astral , AND i'm pretty keen on making my weapon +5, from +4. The only thing bugging me is that I'm afraid that it might break if I fail. I have no intention of going +6 :D

it CAN break, if thats what you mean.
no weapon ever broke on my chars, but the chance is there.
and without astral, if it fails and it doesnt break, you will go back
to +0.

try it if you can afford it.

STEADY, most people forget steady, make sure you get it.

Steady prevents the durability loss.

And an item can break or loose dura from +4-+5 onwards.

Just slap steady on an item and go for gold, just pump elixirs into it untill u get your desired +

Immortal obviously will help stop it breaking, Ive +5/+7d 5 items so far without astral or immortal.
So either I've been lucky or immortal isnt assssssss necessary as its made out.

Most important cross your fingers and dont forget lucky powder :P
Good luck.

I'll quote myself:

And try to get steady and lucky in it.

Glory... hehe it's just that you almost said it as if everyone had say steady wasn't useful... or not worth of mention...

i wouln't worry about the weapon breaking yet. what is most likely to happen is that the +4 will go back to 0 if you don't have astral.

Ive never had an immortal stat taken when going from +4 - +5, only trying for +6 or +7. Nobody else i have personally talked to has had immortal taken from +4 - +5 either.

When going for +5, the only thing i would say is absolutely necessary is Steady (as mentioned above) because i have gotten a duro reduce trying to + my shield i use for my fire shield skill.
