Crit on Shield and Block on Weapons?

What does it mean when you have a blue Critical Ratio increase on shields, and a Block Ratio increase on a sword?

I tried testing to see if there were any increases in block and crit precentage, but I couldn't seem to find any.

crit on shield: higher the crit, lower chance opponent crits you
br on sword: higher br, lower chance opponent blocks your attack
