Question about Merc, again

I just have a quick question. Can I use my merc even when I am not in any war, or not in any job suit? I mean, just like go grinding with mercs, is that possible?

how many mercs in total can u use at one time?

It is different for each guild level. I believe level 5 guilds can have up to 8 mercs.

How do they work? Like a wolf, so they can be unsummoned/summoned, and there is a problem with: Do the really not attack mobs?

i think their for attacking in guild wars, theif/hunter wars that kinda thing
