My character is wearing all armor. When I press the C key (I think that's the one), it shows that my "magical defense" is actually higher than my physical. It shows this on individual pieces of my armor as well. But armor is supposed to provide mostly physical defense, right? There were also two other terms mentioned..."physical/magical balance" and physical/magical reinforcement". What exactly do these terms mean?
Also, while wearing armor, I picked up a pair of cotton boots (garment) and they had that red coloring...like what appears around stuff you can't use. They were two levels below me and they were for a male. I thought you could switch armor types any time just by putting it on. Is there something I'm not seeing?
Clarification about armor types plz...

All "armors" have higher magical defense than physical defense on their individual items. The fact that armor provides the most physical defense is just a comparative statement with respect to the the physical defense of protectors and garments.
Terminology I'm not so sure of. This is a pretty good thread though. http://www.silkroadforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=24529
The cotton boots are red because you can't equip them yet. You can't mix garments and armor. You have to unequip all your armor before you can equip the garment. Only armors and protectors are allowed to be mixed and matched (used at the same time).

Out of Garments, Protectors, and Armor; Armor has the MOST physical defense.

Physical and Magical balance - how you determine damage multipliers for your character.
The more STR you have the more hp you'll have - the more you'll crit
- The less physical damage you will take- the more physical damage you will output.
The more INT you have the more mp you'll have - the most dmg you can do comes from this - The less magical damage you will take

You can't wear Armor or Protector while you are wearing garments.
You CAN wear armor and protector together.

The amount of times you crit is independent of your STR or INT points, it has to do with the crit of your weapon and your luck.
