why so few hunters?

i just got level 20 and was hoping that "the fun of silkroad" would actually be fun. since i figured i cant hunt or thieve yet, ill trade. first trade was a 1 star where i took the long way out of jangan. went around the bandit stronghold to go the west ferry. 1 theif spotted me (from his gear and wolf atleast level 32), so he spawned a horse and got myself and my transport killed.

i decided to try again but look for hunters this time, and do a 3 star. unfortunately no hunters would escort me, or even begin to talk about what i would pay them. looking around after that i noticed there are not many high level hunters around. myself and my friend decided we'd be hunters when we started due to the lack of them. it seems being a hunter is pointless unless your at the cap.

my current thought is im not going to grind for 30 levels so i can enjoy the game. so i see 3 options.

1 - find something actually fun to do before i hit omgwtf high level
2 - pay a power leveling service. (and there are some good ones, and its not profitable for them to steal accounts)
3 - not play silkroad.

i was hoping people had ideas on 1, and not just grind.

a few notes
(earth-ghosts would not have killed me, i killed earth ghosts at 16 )
(ghost soliders at 18 )
(devil bugs at 19 )

Usually, once u join a guild, people in your guild will volunteer to hunt for you. Many high lvl guilds will also switch between hunting/thieving. However, with the new lvl cap, a lot of high lvls are probably grinding in Takla Makan, instead of escorting trade runs.

Well, I suppose u could try to camp for tiger girl.

me and my friends who play made a guild, we're 80 percent to level 2. we've tried trading twice, once a one star from jangan (first trade ever). and then a 2 star from dawnang. both times we took the a long route, killed all the npcs (dozen chakjis, half dozen devil bugs and 4 earth ghosts). almost got to the ferry and a lvl 50 or so (judging by his gear) thief attacked us. we fought him for about 1 minute, but he was hitting 500s to 1000s and myself i was hitting 100s at the most. only beucase our healing teamwork did we last 1 minute.

none the less, i guess the question is. is the game only fun if your a high level in a big guild?

oh and i had thought about the theif / trader / hunter balance. very simple way to balance out the hunter / theif thing. let hunters kill theives at the bandit den, this way just as theives pick on low level players, hunters can pick on lower level theives.

first of all don't worry too much about your job level it is just for looks right now and more as a fun part of the game.
that idea would not work. why cause hunting thieving is fun when you find a thief (when being a hunter) or a multi star trade as a thief.

i really find it lame from most thieves to have a hunter (union/guildmate) with them on the lame scale this hits a 9 out of 10points.
second i really don't find the fun of robbing a low level players doing a trade, the only fun of it is just being a bully (can be enjoyable sometimes) especially when they are just 1 star.

the only way Joymax will be able to balance the thieves/hunters on servers is by upgrading the job system (check the mother of all future updates topic)

the game is fun at any level but you just need to consider waiting doing multi stars at lower level.

1 or 3, def not 2. The job system is way overhyped by JM, "all fun you starts level 20!!1" You can't really do any jobs effectively until 30-40. Trading is probably the only thing you can do at level 20. And still you have a chance of being popped. Or you can try the guild thing someone said above.

well a strategy ive thought of for those high level hunter jerks is to identify the level of the hunter based off their equipment. then when they attack me ill have a friend heal me, at the same time ill do all my buffs while taking off my job suit. this way they dont see that im taking off my job suit and if timed right one of their attacks should hit once i have it off. this way they get murderer status.

It's not a great idea to job unless you are lvl50+ and can handle your own out there.. If you are in a guild, typically they will help you out on trades/thiefing/hunting.. good luck :D

for there to be more hunters in game JM needs to compensate them some way. Traders make money by trading, thiefs make money by stealing, but how do hunters make money? unless you get a trader to pay you(then his profit margin drops).they need to implement a pay scale for hunters who successfuly helps a trader get his cargo home safely.Or increase the profit for a trader who uses a hunter on a run to help compensate his fee. This would have other benefits as well.more people would try 2* or higher runs if they had some protection.they could even make the pay based on the size of the trade(5* runs get the most hunter bonus).just a thought, would be nice.
