Personally i go for hybrid 2:1 INT:STR Bow and i realized that perhaps i should be wearing garment over armor. I think it is a conflicting issure and cant choose which is more appropriate. If i am grinding against equal or higher lvl monster i typically use armor but if i am doing quests against lower lvl creatures i use garments to increase my magic use. Is it worth it to carry two sets of protectors or just go for one?

im a pure int nuker lvl 36 fighting black robbers. is there anything in the tarim basin or in hotan that does magical attacks making it worthwhile to wear garment?

Generally, this is how people choose their gear.

Pure Int - Wear armour, to make up for the phys def they are missing.
Pure Str - Wear garment, to make up for the mag def they are missing.

As for you, who is in the middle. I would suggest perhaps wearing protector. You get the best of both sides.

robber archer do poison dmg, which is magical
red eye ghosts in death ravine are also poison/fire
then there's white spiders
and from 50-60 majority of the mobs in kara are magical

To be honest, I don't know why everyone insists on trying to even out their physical and magical defense. I usually choose which set to wear based on 2 things; what I'm fighting, and what armor type most of my recent blue drops are :D . If you're dueling or doing trade runs, then I can see why you would want to have all-around defense, but if you plan on grinding until the next armor grade, I'd base it on the attack type of the monster, and, following fireandice's tip, whether they're a higher or lower level than you.
