Hey all I'm working on some rough guesses to figure out what Def and Mag Def is necessary to defend against higher level thieves that spawn on you while trading.
Going to need some help here, all I could figure out roughly, is that LvL 60+ characters have stats like:
Phys att ~ 1k
Mag att ~1k
Def ~ 500-700
Mag Def ~ 800- 1k
What I'm trying to figure out is how much def or mag def I need to tank high level npc thieves and how much phys attack I need to kill them.
Reason being I wear garments, and use a glavie, and wondered if switching to armor and blade/shield would help me tank lvl 60+ thieves.
Sorry if this post is confusing or too long... I just need to find out what degree armor or equips is the bare minimum you need to survive Lvl 60+ npc thieves. This info will allow me and (everyone else) to trade as many 1 stars as you wish, if you can handle any level npc thief, you're totally safe.
Thanks for anyone and everyone's input.

No you cant, the info will be useless to someone being lvl 20-30. because if you encounter a lvl 60 npc thief, then you are f... you dont have the skills to take him down, you dont have the gear to defend againts him and surely you wont deal him any damage.
the lvl is what dictates if you can take out a npc thief. sure you might survive an npc thief if you have 1 or 2 or maybe 3 lvls difference because you will be using pots. but a lvl difference of 10 or 20, is certain death.
i tryed it once, i even used zerk and i still didnt kill him.

Keep in mind the amount of capped bored players out there too. The difference between lv60 and lv70 npc thieves is huge. Found out the hard way last night that I can handle one lv70 npc thief at my level (lv56) but not two!

Hire a high level hunter to assist you, problem solved.

Ok thanks for the replies, now I have more info to work with.
The Janitor: Its never that simple if your not in a guild or don't have friends playing the game. With this strategy, you can take a bunch of 1 star merchants your level, and not have to worry about a thing!!
Longing: What were you wearing? armor/prot/garm, and what was your def and mag. def? That's deg 6 equips so I can probably figure it out, but any help is appreciated.
CodeofSilence: It is possible to take out npc thieves 10 levels ahead of you. I think the color limit you should look for is light red, beyond that you should do the normal routine. ( Run for your life!!) I could defeat my lvl 41's npc thieves no problem ( i'm Lvl 33). He could defeat my other friend's lvl 51 npc thieves as well. Longing just told us about his experience. So now let's come up with something useful.
To all the mega 1 star traders out there like me, this is what you need to know, you can handle thieves that have weapons up to 2 degrees higher than your own weapons.
What does this mean?
Lvl 20-30 traders (deg 4) can handle thieves using deg 5/6 equips
Lvl 30-40 (deg 5) can handle deg 6/7
Lvl 40-50 (deg 6) can take deg 7/8
lvl 50+ can handle any npc thieves that you come across.
So if you want to trade with no risk to yourself, get either a 7th degree weapon, or if you wish to push your luck (which I always recommend!!) take an SoS deg 6 weapon with a pimped out deg 6 equip set, and defeat any npc thief that gets in your way!!
Good luck trading, and have fun!!
