Going unexpectedly purple :|

This happened to me the other night and fortunately no body attacked me so i shrugged it off as a glitch but it's been bugging me.

I was questing on Black Robber Bowmen where there were what appeared to be about 5-6 gold bots and maybe 3 'real' players. (For the most part spread around away from each other.) I make it a point to try and avoid ks'ing but if I see a name like hjshff I wont, especially in a situation like that where you're competing against a bunch of programs in order to complete a quest.

One of the other players came over and said hi so we started talking while I continued to randomly kill bowmen. Suddenly my name was purple. I didn't hold down the alt key, or target anything other than bowmen. The guy I was chatting to didn't attack me and neither did anyone else. Could my attacks have 'splashed' out onto one of the bots and caused that? Or is it just a bug of some sort?

Anyone heard of anything like this happening before?

cheers :)

Well i was sitting on a horse talking to a guildie once, and he just suddenly attacks me.

He said he clicked me but didnt hold ALT.

Hmmm...

I am not sure about this but i just wanted to suggest this: When i did the nuke trick, I can attack any player without pressing alt. I am not sure if the other player can attack me without pressing alt after i did the nuke trick of him. If he can do that, the only possible explaination is that someone tried to do a nuke trick on you and your splash dmg hit him. Again not sure if it can hit him

erm... forgive my noobishness...lol

What's the nuke trick?

You wanted to attack someone with a nuke but you cancel it with some methods. After you did this, you can attack the person you're targeting WITHOUT pressing alt.

Kaijah, Well YES you it could have just been a glitch or else
"somehow" your finger slipped and manages to slip on the
alt key and then accedently clicked on a botter/player...

Has happend to me a couple of times when around bots
and my finger slips (Not on accedent though :D :D )

I guess that's what must have happened. I couldn't imagine myself accidently clicking the alt key but stranger things have happened lol. I was talking to someone at the time so it's not inconceivable that I could've hit it while chatting and the area I was in was quite dense with reeds etc so maybe it's possible it was a player i targeted and not a bowman.

Will be more careful in future. :)

Thanks everyone for your replies.

that's not how it works, the bot receives message that a player is about to attack him, then the player cancels the nuke, and the bot sends a packet to attack the other player. (as bot only sends packets, it doesnt need to hold ALT down).

Yup i know it doesn't work like that but I am trying to explain to him that probably someone tried to do a nuke-trick on him. He then did a splash dmg to the person without knowing it (not sure about this)

I'm not sure, but I think it's possible for splash damage to affect another player when you can't otherwise attack them.

A guildie of mine one day had a stall set up in the archway of the south gate in Donwhang. I had a stall by the dimensional gate and suddenly noticed that she was dead (via her HP bar in the party quick-view). So I ran down and saw her laying dead inside the gate. That should be the safe zone, so a player wouldn't be able to attack her. My only guess is that people were PVPing just outside the gate. Someone did a skill that does splash damage, and my guildie was somehow hit (electric shock maybe?) and ended up dieing from that.

So maybe your nuke can splash off a bowman and hit another player. I don't know.
