I've been hearing people being hacked in SRO everyday, I'm getting worried. But I recently learned that MOST of the people that are hacked use bots. If that's so, I'm not worried because I don't use a bot. But I've heard that some don't use bots and still got hacked! xD I'm getting scared, all my hard work! Is their anyway I can prevent my account from being hacked?! =.= I don't know how the whole hacking system works..sorry if I"m sounding a bit stupid.

dont use simple passwords like 4569852 or abcdefg and so on..use numbers/lettre's and capitals something like: Ab5dU98W hard to remember but it is alot better resistent to hacking..
also dont give your id/pw away to anyone (even if they are your closest friends)..
Hope that helps =)

Well...
there are 3 ways someone can be hacked....and 3 ways only
1= you use a bot programe
2= you go to a certain website (which downloads a keylogger to your pc)
and you use a hack tool
3= you give out your details.
Now let me say this clearly ok....no matter what someone says or how
much they cry that its not, If they got hacked they did one of these
3 things and as such. Its their own fault and as such Joymax will not
help them at all.

Not true.
Currently (has been since joymax introduced phpBB) there has been a 'bug' that allows anyone to see any user who has written on the forums account name.
Also, some people leave their email in their signatures..
The secret questions arent necessarily hard... (birth town etc, if u know where a guy is from, try the biggest 30 cities in his country and u got ureself an acc..)
There are brute hacks that guesses one pass/second 24/7 if u know the account name..
ok that's all i know i guess.
Anyway, i'd advice any users not to use Silkroadonline.net forums on their main account - make a lvl1 acc for chatting over there.
Don't use same char name as account name
Don't give out the same e-mail to people as the one you have on personal info.
Change password every now and then (would someone be trying to brute you, this would reset his progress, and dont use words that could be found in a dictionary as pass, or words that symbolises anything..)

oh am sorry but it is true..
and the "bug" your talking about is called a "forum exploit"...it
basicly allows someone to post using your user name. Apart from that
there is no other way that they can find out your details.
And people stupid enough to leave their e-mails in their sigs...well then
they come under rule 3 giving out your details. same with telling
a complete stranger where you live and your mothers name and so forth.
Its a stupid thing to do, considering how many peopel get hacked.
And as for these so called Brute Hacks...there so usless, all they do
is try to guess randomly what your password is. and considering the
number of cominatiosn using all letter keys and number keys, there
only ever right if the person there hacking has a very simple/stupid
password.
Also your information to new users on the SRO.net forum is very good
i mean that forum is famed for stupid people giving out details.

yes and no....just make sure that what ever question you chose.
It has an answer that no one else knows, and you can easily remember.

I'm gonna change my password just in case..lol. Thanks for the tips guys

I didn't know I can get hacked just by giving away my email address or ID...but isent their a way someone can get hacked by using codes or whatever? Or mybe I've been watching too many movies...
I don't know if it's true but in Aege one of the "famous" players in the server got hacked, I think his name was...silkrgardien or something like that. I don't know about the details but I heard it from a friend.

It's kinda sad when people gets hacked!

i doubt it's an exploit, anyway Bug or Not bug, people can still see your username on sro.net forums, dont use your main account for visiting the forums.
Brute hacks may sound riddiculous, but people who ask how to avoid getting scammed are usually the ones who go for a common password, so don't leave them out.
And the fact still remains that sro.net forums and brute hack is still a possible way of retrieving someone's account
