Using Crit Stones

Hey...
If I use a crit stone, will that have any harmful affects on the other stats on my weapon? I don't care if the Crit goes down if it fails, but I'm afraid that it might make the attack rating for example.

no it wont change any other stats. only the crit, it will either go up, stay the same or go down.

i used a crit stone on a glavie that was +2 but the crit was bad.. it was 2. so i used the stone, the enhancment was successfull but, it went from 2->2. so basically no change at all, just waste of elements.

WHOA, WHOA... you are way wrong. Using ANY stone can change some attribute other than the one you wanted to change. That is what is called assimilation. The higher percent (10%, 20%, 30%) the greater the chance something else will get changed whether the stone succeeds or fails. you can have a stone succeed and change some other attribute or the stone can fail and still change some other attribute.

i'm sorry but if it fails, it fails. it won't do any assimilation if it fails

Yes it does.. trust me.. it has happened to me... assimilation is not dependent on whether the stone fails or succeeds.

I've probably used about 1000+ magic stones so far pimping up everything I wear, and I can tell you for certain that an attribute wouldn't be affected by assimilation if it fails.

Trust me.. it does.. in case you missed it the first time... ASSIMILATION IS NOT DEPENDENT ON WHETHER A STONE FAILS OR SUCCEEDS... IT IS RANDOM AND ONLY DEPENDENT ON THE PERCENTAGE OF ASSIMILATION CHANCE.

You obviously don't know what you are talking about. If the stone fails, there's a 0% chance an attribute will change.

Uh.. no.. if a stone fails it only fails in adding whatever the attribute the stone might have added/changed... that does not mean it will fail in assimilation.

uhmmm... you are a lvl 50ish, far from wearing any 8th degree stuff.

I, on the other hand, am lvl 70 and have max out almost all of the blues on my gears and weapons. So again... if the stone fails and goes purple, your attribute WONT CHANGE. You are a n00b so don't argue with me. kthanxbye

No need to be confused. If the Stone fails and goes purple it is not going to change any attributes on your eq or weap plain and simple. Misaklo maybe the only person in game that has had this happen to him. Using ANY stone can change some attribute other than the one you wanted to change, that is what is called assimilation(which does not happen all the time). The higher percent (10%, 20%, 30%) the greater the chance something else will get changed whether the stone succeeds. Failing the stone just means the stone disappears that's all.

P.S. You can also have a 30% chance succeed and not change any attributes and you can have a 10% succeed and change an attribute on the eq or weap.

Quote:

When granting of magical attribute fails, only the alchemy stone disappears.

When granting of magical attribute is granted, attribute assimilation may occur.

Unless you're gonna claim Joymax doesnt know what they are talking about, This discussion is over :P

EDIT: Sry i noticed i quoted the Jade Tablets part, but the Ruby tablets work exactly the same way (both kinds can be found on the link i posted.)

yeah and i have used about 6 crit stones on my weapon so far. 4 have failed completely, my stats remained the same. 2 were a success with the opposite effect tho, instead of increasing the crit value it either went down or it didnt change at all as it was the same value. Still, there was no change on any of the stats.
