Hi, could someone please tell me how it works with Astral? Is it that if the wepon is +4 with an Astral on it and you fail then the wepon will remain +4 ? I need to know... Plzzzz

(This is a "No-Flame" thread! :P )

Yup, it'll stay +4, but the astral will be gone. You'll need to get another. :D

no...it will stay +5, i mean they are premium items. so astral = will not drop down to +0

But there is a limit? Otherwise someone (ccfer) would have a +50 wepon by now?

Nope a weapon with astral ALWAYS makes it go to +4

A weapon that has astral and is +8 (random number)
then you add an elixir will make it go to +4 again

Will only drop to +4 on fail. Could start as +4 or +9 on fail will drop to +4. Several thigs to consider.

Item MUST have immortal on it BEFORE you try to astral. Immortal stones also avaiable in Mall. Both astral and immortal are 100% success rate stones.

There have been several siteings of items over +5 failing and going back to 0 and both astral and immortal being used. The theory that makes the MOST sense is that immortal kicks in first. If item +5 or higher fails there is a chance that the item will be destroyed. To prevent this the immortal kicks in and removes a charge. If the immortal kicks in BEFORE astral then by the time the game gets to resolving the astral, since there is no longer an immortal on the item astral is discarded.

If all this is true you only need 1 immortal to go to from +4 to +5, BUT I would highly recommend having a minimum of 2 to go higher than +5. This way even if 1 immortal charge is used to save the equip, there is still 1 charge left to activate the astral.

If you only plan to go to +5 than you only need 1 immortal. It is only when you try to go higher then +5 that immortal becomes an issue.

Unless it's a SOS/SOM/SOSUN and you are farming at 3X, I'd say don't even waste it. If anything, having a good 38 weapon is way more important since the next weapon comes at 42 and all 38->42 is long grinding and perhaps doing the jewel quests, wine, and so on.

I'd say don't invest so much in a weapon you really won't be using for so long.

I believe you can place astral and/or immortal on items below +4. Immortal prevents the item's destruction and astral prevents the item from falling below +4. Both of them together make alchemy much easier.
