Can some please explain what are the benefits of trader level 2,3,4 etc...
Just become trader lvl 2.

They are just for show. No benefits yet that is implemented

you can carry more items

Actually you can carry more special items not because of trader lvl but because of character lvl.
The higher char lvl the higher amount of special items you can take on trade run
