Looking for a fun game to play..

Ok, let me fill you in on what I've been trying to get done. If you don't care about my rant, please skip down.
I downloaded a few games in hope of finding one that I could play ( that was free; who wants to pay for an online game? ) Ok, well, I downloaded two, what seemed to be popular games, in Knight Online and Planeshift. It's just two that have been recommended to me that was completely free to play.
KO is a fun game. However, their admin staff is non-existant and doesn't respond to problems asked by their users. I'll leave it at that.
I never got Planeshift to work. I got the client installed, but then it would close right before the update would finish. I deleted that game.
So I was wondering if I could ask some questions.
1) Is there a site that has the skills for the different type of characters:
- Usually all MMO's are the same thing. It makes it easy to understand skills and class types (humans, elves, ect) but this game seems completely different (which is good). However, while reading the main site, the FAQ and even the Character forum on here, I am still confused about the different types of characters.
I know there are Japanese (I think?), European and Islamic (again, all from memory of the sites I've read). I even read that Europeans can walk on water? Probably a joke, but that would be cool.
Anyway, I was wondering if there was a site that had the classes, skills and so on. Would make it much easier for me.
2) Lag:
- I am on 56k. Yes, hold the laughs, but it's all I can get where I live. Now, I know games are never good on 56k, but they are playable (especially for someone that's never played games consistantly on broadband.) On Knight Online, the game had it's laggy points, but on the whole, it ran fine. I know when I get into towns with lots of other characters it'll lag like mad, but I was more talking about being out doing a quest with just a friend or two.
3) Guilds.. and other free to play stuff:
- I know this game is free to play. Knight Online was that way as well, but when I read more into it, I found out that while playing F2P I could not have a guild.. yeah, what the hell? Well, I was just hoping there aren't any crazy loop holes and hidden messages tucked away in the User "Nobody ever reads" Agreement.
Ok, that's about it. All kidding aside, the game looks really fun and I hope I can start playing without any problems. Thanks ahead of time for any responses -- if any. Nobody likes the newbies.

Well to answer your questions, i recamend you playing SRO, i started about a week ago and cant get off it. Like you i was surfing forums looking for free games and came across this which looked nice, and about the europe thing, this only has the china map. You get to pick from a number of chinese people but it really doesnt matter, the only thing thats matters there is what look you like. And the skills are good, theres the elements and also basic wepon mastery skills. If you have ever played WoW thats the closest thing i could compare it too, although there also differnt. About the 56k.. Idk if your gonna have problems or not, im not entirely the computer genuis

And its entirely free with thing that you
can buy to i guess, make things easier but you dont have to. With that all said, dl silkroad and im sure youll enjoy it if your a true mmorpg fan.

There are no classes in Silkroad Online.
Here are a few tipps for the start:
basicly there are four types of chars you can play:
full str (every level up put all 3 points on str)
full int (every level up put all 3 points on str)
str hybrit (some int, mostly str)
int hybrit (some str, mostly int)
Ok.. so:
Full int will use weapon imbue + any weapon till lvl 30 .. at 30 you get pure magic attacks. You will have low HP but very high magic damage.
Full str will use a weapon + weapons skills + imbue .. the most damage comes from the weapon here, cause str increases phys damage. You will have the most health of all.
Hybrits are a mix and i won't recommend them as a first charakter.
There are only chinese in the game so far. Europe has just been release to the korean sro and Islam is only in the minds of the developers.#
P2P - if you pay to play you can level faster 3 hours a day. (double xp for 3 hours a day). You can also have 20% more damage (but that costs insane amounts if someone would use it all the time).
You can also have a looting animal that picks up all your stuff. (very handy ^^)
But it's completly possible to play free and join guilds and do all kinds of stuff.
Hope that helped.

well, i played on 56k before when my intranet went haywire. It runs fine for the most part. Try to find a area where theres less ppl fighting as more skills will cause lags. U might also get some lag at new area. So if ur in a new area, maybe stand there for about a minute or so to let most of imformation load and then start fighting monsters

Yep, all was helpful. I appreciate it.
Is this game still in early development? In other words, do they play on adding more playable options? It sounds like you can only be a "warrior", "mage", and a mix of both.

Yep, found that link on another site. Was actually coming here to post it for people that wanted to know.
Great site.
Decided I am going to be a Fire character. I just couldn't find any "staffs" for mages. However, I read that "Swords" have more MP damage than "Blades," so I probably have to get a sword.

Int fire, nuker.
Either pure int sword or spear hybrid.

What chaud means is that the sword and spear are the weapons to go w/if you're going nuker(pure int).
Both are the best weapons for magical damage, thus best 4 the nuker.
Choose sword to be able to block, though it has lower magical damage. Choose spear to have the higher magical damage & increased hp, though u get no backup in the form of the shield.
Hf w/the game, and gl w/your build!

Thanks guys. Yeah, I think I am going to go with the spear.
One last question. I guess I didn't even think about it since this seems to be an english speaking forum, but this game is an english speaking game, right?
The reason I ask is I downloaded a video and it was all in korean. I know there are different versions of games and so on, but I'd really like the english speaking version.

u'll automatically get the english version unless u download it from the official sties of other countries. Also, of course on the english version they're are guilds that are international i.e. I have friends from the philippines, france, germany, etc.
however I am not sure if you are able to talk to or do any activity with people with other language versions, I think so though

Yeah, I have no problem playing with people from other courtries, but I played on a Knight Online (when it worked) server and I think everyone was from Malaysia. Really made the game boring not being able to understand the other people.

I got it today and started to play. The game is awesome to be honest. I started my Pure INT Nuker; lvl 6 right now.
Kinda disappointed that I have to wait until lvl 30 to throw fireballs though.
My in-game name is GodsHand on the Oasis server if anyone wants to send a message.

Was also thinking about doing a "hybrid" but with Flame/Lightning. Might be able to do good damage, but not sure how many skill points I'd get to spread around.

Hence the sp farming fun.
