Adding tablet (stones) onto a weapon? How many times???

I think I already know the answer to this, but I want to double check, so thanks in advance for any and all help.

I got myself a nice +5 blade the other night, really cheap. Why? It's got a crit of 1....(yep, uno, one, ee)

So, of course I'm now on the hunt for 3rd degree challenge tablets (so if you got any....), turn em into stones and try and up the crit (can't get much worse eh?)

So, question, EVERY time I add a stone, it re-rolls the crit value? So everytime I add a stone (sucess) I could get a new crit ranging from 1 to.....7.....12 etc? (and also run the risk of assimilation...possibly lower (or if lucky increasing) another stat?)

Is this correct?

there are many guides on this already, but yes it does reroll the value but there are also chances for failure and a success doesn't always mean it gives you a higher number, could be the same or even lower! and yes there's a chance of assimilation

Don't ever never buy a low crit weapon, +5 it and hope that you will reroll the crit successfully. It's much easier and safer the other way around.

In fact, I recommend you add all the extra stats on your weapons, most important stat last. Once you're sastified with it you can +5 it. This way, if you mess up on important stats, you still have money left to try on another weapon.

only buy a low crit +5 wep IF and ONLY IF you're buying it at a low enough price to try 3 crit tablets and still turn a profit
