The hoohah over SoX items

Post by screwball »

Yes, I'm what you can call a lowbie newbie. Yes I haven't played the game as long as some people. I do understand that SoX items drop VERY rarely and I'm still crossing my eyes ears toes for a drop (digress here, anybody know where SoX items drop the most? xd). However, how much of a difference do SoX items do versus the normal basic item?

I understand that Seal of Star < Seal of Moon < Seal of Sun in terms of stats. I was reading a thread whereby people were saying to "get a good SoX weapon" and go SP farm. What's the point of getting a good SoX item in this case?

I still grovel at the fact that SoX items cost so much and I have so little money :/

Thanks to whoever can answer my questions!

1. Search. It's been asked before

2. If you have a question that hasn't been answered before post in the Q&A section.

SoStar = built in +5
SoMoon = built in +9 or more
SoSun = built in +15 or more

This information IS posted on the main site, in question and answer.

SoS = +7
SoM = +8-+14
SoSun = +15

They also increase all other statistics as if they were in fact a higher level item (durability, reinforcement, etc.). They also raise the BASE critical of a weapon or the BASE blockrate of a shield (there is actually a little bit of a complex mathematical system behind this, but I'd rather not get into it here).

They are only available for the first level of a degree of an item. That sounds complicated, but it's rather simple. In other words, they are only available for equipment that you can buy in stores.

SoS has a cloudy purple emitting from the tip of a weapon or circling around a shield. It also has a shining tip.

SoM has a spiraling purple around the weapon or circling around the shield.

SoSun has a cloudy purple, spiraling purple, and ridiculously awesome orange shining on the tip of a weapon or in the centre of a shield.

Beyond that, the seals themselves are indestructable. If you want to upgrade a seal item, there is no chance of the seal being removed (please do not confuse this with immortality. the item itself can still be destroyed if it is a seal item.) Therefore, you can upgrade any seal item +1 +2 +3 or whatever.

DO NOT say that SoS = +5, SoM = +10, SoSun = +15
This is just outright INCORRECT and was a myth created from speculation before JOYMAX OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED THE CORRECT POWER LEVELS OF SEAL ITEMS

+5, +10 and +15 are pretty accurate. The +7, etc is a +7 NPC weapon, so SOS is closer to +5 of a weapon people would actually buy.

******************* 3/3 Update

Q. How much more powerful is a Seal of Star/Moon/Sun equipment in comparison to normal + bonus equipment?

Rare items each have differences in power so it is difficult to give an exact answer however in a normal approximate observation; a basic Seal of Star item will have at least a +7 equivalent value, a basic Seal of
Sun will have at least a +15 value. Seal of Moon items will occupy the middle values between the two.

Overall, I think I think I'm really picky about the +5 +10 +15 thing because I'm one of the SoM whores on xian. You'll definitely come across SoM items that are only a little bit stronger than SoS or sometimes just a little bit weaker than SoSun.

within my experience with seal items, I don't believe +5 or +10 is accurate at all

Nyumetsu, I am perfectly aware of that Q&A, but I still stand by my assertation that +5 is more accurate for SOS.

For example, I've seen an SOS +3 32 blade before that was about as good as a 38 +1

3+7=10

32+10=42

38+1=39

And yes, I certainly agree that SOS varies in quality just like any other gear (pair of 44 SOS +3 earrings were worse than my 47+3). I actually don't even like posting what SOS is "equal" to because it's not equal to anything. It is generally better, but it varies a lot and can actually be very crappy compared to some good non-SOS gear.

I also agree with Cuch, despite the official statement. Avalon has a lot of SOS experience and we have seen many +5 weaps with better stats than a white SOS. Some SOS's can drop downright weak. The single most important thing to look at is the numbers in conjunction with the %. It took me a while to really get how it works. 0% is NPC stat or lower. The % does not change with SOS or +. I have used a ruby stone, gained numbers on a stat and it STAYED at 0% because originally, it was weaker than even NPC. Use the NPC as a baseline the look at the % of the stat that is important to you. If mag dmg is what you want, then find a weap with a 50% or greater stat. And frankly at level 1-42, I really dont see the all out importance of anything greater than a +3 unless you are farming. I mean you can clear those levels with a double ticket at least 1 level a day. How long do you intend to stay at level 32 as an example? It would be better to save your money for higher level gear which you actually use for a time.

We had this discussion months ago. It was owned by the Bakemaster. Ergo, you have been owned by the Bakemaster. Hooah.
