Alchemy question - Items breaking

Before anyone says anything, yes, I have used search and I'm more confused than when I started!!!

According to the SRO main site, getting immortal on an item means an item will not break when trying alchemy. Does this mean that, if I do not have immortal on an item, that when I use an elixir or magic stone the item may be destroyed and become unusable and worthless, regardless of whether it's 0, +1 +5 etc?

Correct.

Only at lower +'s the chance of your item breaking is way lower then exg. at +6

Thanks for clearing that up. So basically Joymax are forcing you to buy Immortal from the Item Mall if you want to use alchemy!!

Well.. yes and no. It’s more of a subtle hint, which would make life enhancing items a lot less hard yes.
