what's the difference between sword and blade??
Re: what's the difference between sword and blade??
Of the two a blade is for str characters (aka characters with a higher phy than mag balance). Sword is for int characters (aka characters with a higher mag than phy balance).

Props to chrisorg for the sig <3

Bows are better when he is actually using weapon skills not only elements .
P.s : you will need very long time to level up a blader .

Re: what's the difference between sword and blade??
This is old topic but I still don't get the difference...
Instead of Sword/Blade let's take Spear/Glavie, so it might be more visible:
Values taken from http://sro.mmosite.com/database/items_weapon.shtml
Spear:
Melee Attack Power: 1411 ~ 1781
Magical Attack Power: 2419 ~ 3135
Melee Specialization: 2240 ~ 2774
Magical Specialization: 3840 ~ 4883
Glavie:
Melee Attack Power: 1512 ~ 1959
Magical Attack Power: 2258 ~ 2850
Melee Specialization: 2400 ~ 3052
Magical Specialization: 3584 ~ 4439
Now there is just nothing the Glavie really owns, besides maybe a value of +150 for Melee Attack Power. Everything else is powned by the "Magic Weapon" (Spear).
Now I think the +150 Melee value is completely useless, because of the one reason, that enforcement of the weapon by imbue etc. only enhances the magical attack power - but not the physical. The same applies for all skills you can develop on the skilltree.
Therefore the magic weapon would always be stronger no matter how you distribute your magic/health points. Why should anyone use a glavie or blade at all? Can someone explain that to me? It just makes no sense.
It would make much more sense if it were that way for blades/glavies: Instead of:
Melee Attack Power: 1512 ~ 1959
Magical Attack Power: 2258 ~ 2850
it should be inverted like:
Melee Attack Power: 2258 ~ 2850
Magical Attack Power: 1512 ~ 1959
But... even then it would suck, because the imbue etc. still mostly enhances the magical attack only, and not the physical. No matter how... it always looks like that blade/glavies are inefficient compared to sword/spear.

Re: what's the difference between sword and blade??
Mag attk has higher values. Phy attk has lower values. However, if you're pure str, you won't benefit much at all from a high mag attk value since you power comes mostly from str not int.
The values are lower because if phy attk was the same as mag attk, pure str would rape. High hp and high dmg.
A nuker will nuke and deal 30k dmg for example. A pure str will nuke and only do 3k since he has no extra int points.
A phy attack by a nuker without imbue will do like 2k dmg, while a phy attack by a pure str will deal 15k dmg.
Basically phy items have lower values because it's physical. However, crits make up for the dmg. Hence pure str loves crit. With a critical hit, the dmg is as much as or even a lil higher than a nuker's but you have like triple the hp.
Same goes with armor/garm/prot. Even with armor you phy def is only a lil higher, but with garms your mag def is a lot higher. This is because of the weapons. Mag wep/attacks/def have higher values since each hit is suppose to be stronger. Phy wep/attacks/def have lower values since their attacks were suppose to be weaker. It's just part of the game design.
Of course now-a-days this isn't really true anymore. Due to the balance of the current game, many pure str can deal about as much dmg as a pure int... but i digress.
