Armor types?

I always see high levels wearing Garment armor. Are there uses for the other armor or do the benefits of Garment outway the physical damage taken (or perhaps there's more magical damage at high levels)?

I've been using Armor since day one (I'm lvl 21 almost 22). I'm a blader, so I use a shield and so far I don't take too much damage besides the occasional magical enemy so far (tombstones, black tigers, yeoha and bandits when they imbue). One guide said the benefits from armor before lvl 20 are just small because they DEF difference is small, but I haven't built up enough nerve to risk buying a whole set to try it out.

As far as I can tell thus far, Armor has been better for me for grinding, though I might have gained XP faster and used less MP pots with Prot/Garm armor. So is there a good and bad time to use certain armors or is it all a matter of choice? If so, what is the reasoning behind the popular choices?

Many use garment for the 20% MP reduce and 20% speed boost

Many use protector for the 10% MP reduce and 10% speed boost with and even balance of magical and physical attack defence

Many use armour because it reduces physocal damage a lot, but no other boosts

Well, I did make it pretty clear that I know what each armor does. My questions had to deal with WHY those are prefered by people. Are there more magical enemies at higher levels? Is magical defense or speed better than just physical in PvP? Do tanks prefer more physical armor? Etc.

What the armor does isn't the reason why they think those benefits are better. Despite how obvious it may seem to you, it's not for me.

While you don't see it at your level, as you get into the higher lvls more and more mobs use magic attacks. So you see more high lvls in garment. Also garment is the recommended defender for PvP.

I'm a lvl 25 blader currently and I use armor, but the more I think about switching to garment, the better it sounds, so I might be switching sometime soon.

a lot of it depends on your build, if no one here can answer your question specifically then why dont you experiment? Im moving to garment soon and this is going on the advice of other sucessful STR bladers.

If you are pure STR then you already have lots of physical defense, but you lack magical defense, and the best way to compensate that is using garment, as well as armor for the pure ints, which have lacking physical defense but high mag defense.
