for the curst heart delvling method, is there a formula to calculate how much gold each level will cost to delvl?

You have to pay even though the curst hearts that drop are free...I don't remember any formula, but it depends on your level. I recall someone spending a couple million to drop 40 levels. Try searching around in the forums.
