does your durability lower by the number of hit points (damage) you take or by the number of physical hits you take?

durability is sort of like the gear's health.
once it runs out, it doesn't work anymore, thus not protecting you anymore.

i think from number of hits. cause you can take a level 90 to ongs and just sit there and get attacked and your dura goes down pretty quick and it's not like you're getting hit for a high amount.

The number of hits. Movias take the durability of a d9 item down in the same time as a d1 item.

Number of hits. I farmed at the bandit den with a sox set, even tho the damage was very low (crit 5) the durability still went down. Same for the weapon, depends on how much you attack with it.

Yeah, i think so. That is why blades have far higher durabilities than spear for instance.

durability goes down even if ur not getting hit, just from attacking, even if your using mag attacks. my friend was a hybrid spear nuker and he would never get hit, but he still had to repair his spear.

We pointed out that durability of the weapon goes down when you attack. Doh.
