How safe is it to alchemy?

Well i bought this nice som lvl 16 bow its gr8 and all but if i could make it better i'd love that. But how safe is it to add stuff on and what kind of things would i want to add on?

alchemy is a form of internet gambling, everything has its risks, you may attempt to increase the critical stat, but doing so it will lower your physical attack stat, you may attempt to reinforce the weapons base power with elixers to make it +3, but if that fails the weapon will lose all exisiting +'s and the weapon itself can be destroyed if you fail at higher +'s, attempting to add blue's to your wep can also damage existing blue's on it, that said, attemtping basic alchemy like making it +3, adding a few basic blue's like str/int or fixing some of simpler whites such as attack rating, shouldnt be to hard to do.

so what u are saying is to use weapon elixirs to make it plus 3 and then what?

making it plus 3 is the easiest

make it plus 1 without lucky powder
if it works with first weapon elixer
try +2 with a lucky powder
if it works try again (+3) with a lucky powder

if you are lucky, the weapon will be lucky and you will get a +3 with only 3 weapons elixers

if it fails after +1 you will lose any + already done
and you have to start over

i would not waste more than 12 elixers on a d3 sos weapon
but you may do more if you have the elixers already and you dont mind using them up

Add STR, INT, durability, blocking ration (sp?).
Much harder stats to change using pink stones are critical, physical and magical (+xx%) damage.

Alchemy is like a casino, it's designed for you to loose.

Especially to loose
