new user, sorry for the stupid question
Sorry for the new topic, I just recently found this game due to a coworker.
I have been reading a little and it seems ok, but how bad is grinding? He is saying you need to party up in the higher levels.
I see two races Euro and chinese, and he says Chinese are better in some respects but Euros are more powerful in a party. How do I know what to choose if you need to party a lot later?
well I like to deal lots of damage so maybe a wizard or warrior. does warlock deal good damage? I see something about a hybrid archer?
reading up in search now. excuse the eidt.

Re: new user, sorry for the stupid question
Well, each build has its own advantage. If you want to be a wizard, they do deal great damage, but they can die easy. Mages can kill higher lvls easy with 1 shot, but they can also get 1 hitted also. Mages usually use invisible to kill higher lvls, but with pk2 hack to see invisible and stealth, mages are useless. As for warlock; they do have attacks also a lot of debuffs. You can choose to be a warlock if you wish. If you want to be a great pvp 1 on 1, i suggest mage/warlock. Cleric as your sub class does not help much in pvp. But for hand grinding, you dont NEED a party to lvl up, but it would be faster. Hand grinding at first is easy, but around lvl 40 or so it gets hard. If you just starting out, after lvl 20 it will already seem hard. Oh yea, when you first start playing, it might be boring cuz you dont have the skills that everyone else has. But once you get to higher lvl, it gets funner. Except when your 90 FF and all you do is pvp and job. At first its fun then it gets boring..

Re: new user, sorry for the stupid question
Welcome to SRO, and get ready for a whole bunch of grinding
2 races:
Chinese: Mainly a 'solo' race, meaning that each build is made to survive
Popular builds: PURE STR GLAVIE/BOW/BLADE, PURE INT SPEAR/SWORD&SHIELD ('nuker' builds)
Each chinese character have a maximum of 300 skill mastery, meaning that if you add up all your mastery points..they cannot go over 300 total (or 90 each for this 90 level cap). So for now, preferably, you max 3 of them.
Euro: Mainly a 'partying' race, made for perfect 8man parties, each build has it's ups and downs
Warrior: TANKER - PURE STR - 2H = good damage, 1H = high defense, axes= a little of both
Wizard: MAGE - PURE INT - purely damage build, owns if your in a party, hard to pvp
Warlock: PURE INT/or hybrid - kind of an int 'tank' - good damage, debuffs, curses
Cleric: HEALER - PURE INT - heals and stuff lol, got good buffs
Bard : MP HEALER - PURE INT - heals mp and can 'dance' to increase pt. dmg and defense.
Rogue: PURE STR - hard to find a party for rogues, probably the only 'solo' worthy build for euro
Also, each euro char can have 2 builds they can make...so if you chose to make a warrior (you could 'subclass' in cleric, bard, warlock).
<----Also check out the Guides Tutorials section for GREAT guides for ALL of the builds mentioned above. Good Luck.
Grinding is easy at low lvls but can get hard later on, just make good friends and have fun while playing

Thanks for the replies peeps. I will probably look around a bit more before deciding on which server and type of character. According to him Venus is nice, but he's on Olympus, so I dunno where to start.

Re: new user, sorry for the stupid question
well if you wanna try out a partying in a good anti cheating enviroment venus would be the place.
Warrior though is not a damage dealing build in a party for training aka grinding aka leveling, incact their main purpose is to be a meat sheild for the rest of the party that can't take the abuse, and have a buff to reduce the dmg they deal while increasing their HP alot, warrior vs people takes on a similar role but here they can afford to switch to 2 hander for the extra dmg,in leveling parties axe or 1 hander is a better way to go
warlocks do good damage but its more damage over time instead of big flashy hits, they can put buffs on enemies that actually lower their stats or do damage to them over time for so many seconds, as well as sleep and stun to keep them crippled
wizard are just about hell lets cut my hp in half so i can deal more damage, they can't take much abuse but they hit hella hard with a good staff you can 1 hit things 7 levels higher then you

A man once said, "Fear is contagious". So then the same must hold true for courage.
The Roar of a Crowd begins with one man.

Re: new user, sorry for the stupid question
Sorry for the late post. It's been busy.
I picked warlock because I saw a picture and video and they get this "furious" red-eye feature, I think it's called berserk. It seems that they would be ok because they have a shield in addition to their weapon, so maybe they would take less damage than a wizard character.
my character is level 17 now. I went with Olympus for now because I have a coworker there. But Venus does seem to be less busy when I am able to log on.

Well warlock is indeed a nice and fun to play build. But just so you know, every build and race has that red eye feature. Berserk, or just zerk as the most call it

Props to chrisorg for the sig <3

Re: new user, sorry for the stupid question
Welcome
I think this is more of a C&S topic but meh..
Basically Chinese were the first class, build
to solo grind. Then euro came out, they are
built for party play.. Chinese are more of all
rounder build, Euros have a big strength and
a big weakness so by party grinding you cover
up the weakness.. Essentially euro parties destroy
the Chinese, and in 1v1 even then they can win
but so can Chinese.
If you 'wanna go euro I recommend maybe a bard
or a warlock, that's my opinion.. I find those
fun to play but warlock uses lots of sp so maybe
take a warrior or something..
For Chinese maybe, int s/s or a str/hybrid bower.
Both pretty easy to play, Don't take to long to
grind so keeps the game a little more exciting.
