New to the game

I'm new to the game and was wondering what the yellow bar over the experience bar means.

Also, I'm having problems capturing Pirates. Whenever I get them to run over the net, it never captures them. What gives?

The yellow bar is your sp (skill points) bar, when you kill something you can
see how much exp and sxp you get per kill, 400 sxp = 1 sp

you will need sp to get skills (press S ingame)
