nah u shoot from so far away the monster doesnt even know you're there and the wolf takes all the hits and if all monsters are aggressive you have to babysit it too much, its complete shit for archers unless you're over-attentive.
Also, im most cases...wolves your level can tank uniques better than you can. Just sit back and send your wolf in, and when it agro's on it, start shooting.
On physical mobs, agro or not, i barely even have to look at my wolf. Mages are another story though
Main things: (I'm looking from the view of a euro xbow with crossbow extreme on.)
- They'll be able to tank a bit so you can fight stuff quite a few levels higher than yourself.
- Bit more damage won't hurt will it? Plus you'll increase the chances of you killing the mob before it gets to you, which in the long run will save pots, and decrease the chances of you dying from a few unlucky crits. <-- Happened to me too much at bunwangs.

It's always helpful to have a wolf regardless the build. Sometimes it could turn a 2 hit into an 1 hit.
+1
And they just look awsum

You can always send your wolf to kill mobs and at the same time do this yourself with other mobs. and if you need to heal yourself/rest a bit, your wolf will kill things. also, if you are attacked by lots and lots of mobs, make your wolf kill one of them, easier for you and they can tank way better than you
to kill faster... and or tank it... send the wolf as decoy...and etc.
Coordinating this takes too much attention in my opinion. Haven't farmed at the stronghold since the update, but I guess that even party mobs will go down very fast in that usually crowded area.
I actually just got my first (two) wolves yesterdy and today (they have really strange names.... but cost me 600k and 400k respectively for a lvl 22 and a lvl 25).
Anyways, I've found that they are great for distracting mobs if I get more htan one on me (since we are shieldless after all...) and even once, when I ran out of arrows, I was able to finish off a party monster by having the wolf attack it.
