Two simple questions...

1. I was looking at some SOS items at some of the stalls, and noticed that the prices for those are super high. However, it seemed that the stats on the items were not that spectacular. What is it that makes SOS items so expensive/desireable?

2. If you have the skill to rez dead characters, can you also rez yourself if you die?

Most people just go for the items because of the shiny icon, or if they are weapons, the cool animation on it. Although, the stats on sos items are much higher than those of the npc item equivalent.

2. If you have the skill to rez dead characters, can you also rez yourself if you die?

No, you can't res yourself using skills, but you can purchase 'resurrection scrolls' from the item mall, and using these, you can resurrect yourself.

Wrong its not about the shiny icon or look (though thats a good bonus) its the fact sos items are +5s w/ higher base stats, which make them worth the super high price they are. That and you can easily make a sos go up to a + like +3.
