Weapon Durability

Post by Chrystos »

I played Final Fantasy XI, and if any of you played that before you know that I can grind with the best of them. Talk about a game that hates the idea of anything resembling instant gratification. The one thing I'm having trouble fathoming about SRO though is durability. Now I've gotten to level 21 in the last few days just running around grinding away in my spare time and I'm starting to notice that my weapon's durability seems pretty terrible.

Now granted I just have a pretty stock weapon, nothing to brag about. I'm pretty much saving up for an SOS type blade at level 24ish and using pretty barebones gear until then. It seems as though my blade which has a durability level of 82/82 (Kang Tribe Cutting Blade) only lasts maybe an hour or two (maybe 30% of a level) of grinding through easy to same level monsters. This seems kind of pathetic. A trip back to town to repair every hour or so seems kind of overkill. Am I doing something wrong here?

Granted I seem to be learning everything the hard way so far (yay for never reading instructions, eh) but I would think I would have zeroed in on a solution by now.

Actually, that sounds about right. At your level, a weapon will run out of durability every hour or so. At later levels, the weapon durabilty will increase, and sos/som/sosun weapons do have a higher base durability, albiet not by much (or at least not by as much as you'll ever see in FF XI). The only way to really increase teh durability on a weapon is by using alchemy, and infuse a stone of master onto the weapon. As for pathetic...I'm sure joymax will give you plenty of other examples in your gaming experience.

Weapon durability for bladers runs down quick at lower levels.

It appears that bladers and sworders have the quickest loss of durability. Probably because of 2 strikes per attack. Definately wears out quicker than a glaive.
Gave in to the force of rationallity. Uninstalled this bot infested game and never looked back.
Now I just play in the OTL and my old guild forum.

It's also because of the difference in damage output. Glaives kill a lot faster than blades.
