disjointing items can be done by purchasing destroyer rondos from the grocery trader (the place where you buy your accessories). On the last page where alchemy related items are sold, buy some destroyer rondos.
press "Y" for your alchemy menu, put in the destroyer rondos, then the equipment item that you want to disjoint. Press "fuse all". However, it should be noted that items will usually cost more than 1 destroyer rondo to destroy. To check how many it will take, hover your mouse over the item while it is in you alchemy menu, and at the bottom of the info pop-up it will tell you how many destroyer rondo it takes.
disjointing items will yield elements, but there is a chance (though slim) that a tablet or even stone will be produced.
