Hybrid Spear : Armor or Protector

Ok so I have a Hybrid spear (1 STR 2 INT) and I am currently level 41 and wearing protector. But when doing PVP, but more importantly PVE, I've noticed that physical based attacks do ALOT of damage on me, more than it seems they should. At times, I'll be in danger of dying from one or 2 crits from a mob 2 levels below me.

So I just want to know if I would be any better off using armor instead of protector?
(Keep in mind, I will be maxing Ice at 90, with full snowshield and Might guard if ice)

umh... wear garms. not kidding. makes ur mp last longer. then just use snow shield and the guard of ice. i say garms because they reduce the amount of mp you use, so that you can take more hits with snow shield. i have a hybrid spear and never had this problem... umh, are you sure you're wearing gear for ur lvl? like ur not a lvl 41 wearing 24 hands or something?

lol yea, I'm wearing correct degree. I guess the dmg phys mobs do on me isnt THAT high, I was just pissed off, because I died a few times in a row, because of some unlucky crits.
