Jobbing...

Hi guys,
After the update it's impossible for me to thief, i mean when i was lvl 30 i had more success with thieving before update then now. Before update i could just run around jangan and see tons of traders, but now i cant find a single one and even if i do find one,, then he got 2 lvl 90 hunters with him, i think the most important thing in game is just ruined, the balans is just farked up now. Its impossible for me to thief... can't do no shit. always a lvl 90 hunters run around and f*ck it up,,,
i think it would be better if they put attack lvl cap. so that you can't attack 10 lvl lower then your self, that would make for me easier to thief

sorry for my bad english

"Discussion" I think you need to look up what that is.
OT: I like the system. Anything that causes less cheating or "scamming" is ok with me.

What's changed? Which update? The Euro update?
You should try being a hunter. It's just as bad for us. If you're not level 88-90, don't even bother unless you have 6 other hunters with you and an unsuited cleric, because on Olympus there are plenty of "buffers" with the thieves (although, it's gotten a tiny bit better lately) and resfights are common.
Matter of fact, I was going to quit hunting - I figure I'm just too low.

yeah bro, same is goes for Jobbing as hunter, i mean why can't a lvl 20 or 30 do a job, without being raped by a lvl 80+? i don't wonna be lvl 90 to make a successful trade or thieving or hunting.
thats why i think if they put a lvl cap that you can't attack 10 lvls lower then your own lvl, but now i have to be high lvl to succes a job...

Well, since Euro, you pretty much can't hunt or thief (at that level), you had to trade in the mid 20's regardless. What level are you anyway? And what level trader are you trying to thief?

the new job system killed jobbing. its a fact.
the alias update was the thing that did the most damage. if ur a trader looking for a hunter and you find one in town, you cant pm them cuz u dont know there name. as a result hunters cant get famous as good hunters. back in the day you knew who the top hunters were. if you needed help, you would be able to call on them. now there alias blocks there name so 90% of sro players have no clue who they are.
if you die and drop ur loot to a thief whos higher level, and a hunter runs across him and kills him, your loot has your alias on you. The hunter wont be able to pm you and tell you to come get your loot. That alone is one of the reasons you never see patroling hunters anymore. back in the day the trade route was covered with solo hunters looking for thieves to kill and recover the loot.
so your guild wants to do an epic trade run to show the server your kick ass. well your guild tag is hidden. server trades, union trades, guild trades, servers compeating for the largest trade run, all gone. there is no reputation to be gained from doing a trade run now.
and if you do manage to do a guild trade run for some reason, lets say a few traders go down in the npc chaos that follows large trade runs. how are you going to pm them and tell them were there loot is? you cant. so you end up with pissed guild/union members who loose there loot. another reason no one bothers doing those kinds of trades anymore.
so all your left with is those lame trades with 1 5* and 7 lvl 90 hunters guarding it. as a thief there is no way ur gonna take it by yourself. you see other thiefs in town but u cant pm them. you ask for help in guildchat but the ppl online are all hunters and are unable to suit up.
they made a whole new job system just to solve the problem of ppl de-suiting and crossing a ferry then re-suiting in opposit job suits. thats just stupid. they could of made the 30 min penalty server side and kept the old "working" job system.
life lesson: dont fix it if its not broken.

i'm lvl 44 now, china char.
And i can't thief, i see only 60 + traders thiefs hunters.
Down lvl 40 don't even stand a chance to run a job without being afraid of getting rapped by a lvl 80+ thief or hunter...
this is the reason why everybody wants to go higher lvl, cause you can't do a sh*t in lower lvl... at least from my experience

have you ever heard about party matching system !!!
you need a high level hunter make a party with level restriction named "need high level hunter"
you see a loot type the name of the trader in the party matching system
you need help thieving a 15* trade . yeah that right . make a party "need thieves for 15*" in the PMS
OR (cuz i see that your whole issue in pm'ing others)
use rev6 to find their names

That usually attracts the opposite teams as well. Putting up a "need high lvl hunter" will bring about a sudden bursts of thieves within minutes. Last newb i helped did that and we got swarmed by 7 9d thieves before we even left samark.

because we have that ammount of time while the thief is finding a nice spot far away and returning to the thief town? or while you wait for people to join your party and get to your spot as the 15* trade walks right by, that much closer to making it to the next town or seeing and killing you.
old job system was amazing, i could trade, hunt, and thief at any level and be sure to find someone my own lvl to fight while doing it. new one blows

@ Ash
you missed my point, my point is: i don't wonna be high lvl to do any of this jobs, and to be dependent by a higher lvl hunter to protect my loot as trader. i want to able to rob a loot from trader without being lvl 80+
Why would everybody go high lvl ?? cause you can't job in low lvl.... thats the biggest problem in game in my opinion..

Party matching system is a bad idea.. like someone else said, you attract more enemies than allies that way. Anyone who has any experience in trading knows this.
Rev6 peoples names? No one has the time. Trade runs are about speed. Get your trade from point A to point B before you get robbed. If you loose your loots, you pick them up and continue as fast as possible. Theres no time to alt+tab out of window, load a website, type in the persons alias and hope you got the right persons name.

And @ thread starter, I agree about the level difference... to a point. If youre a level 70 and youre on a trade run with 90s, why should you live if your caravan gets jumped? Youre there by your own choice.

heh, we used to use a union thief and two trades. One trade would be in Sam, and the other in Constan or DW. Then the decoy thief would global about the decoy trade, the decoy trade would put up "need help, 5* come hi lvl hunters plz" while the other trade we'd already have set up with hunters and ready to go.
It did help a little bit, but they caught on quickly once they saw the decoy trade wasn't leaving town.

that's why if u want jobbing, get 5* trader and 7 hunters with u, starting from the town. And not ask a random hunter who is patrolling around for help.

Old jobing system was much much better. Im thief now but I want to go do some trade runs with my guildmates but I cant since Im thief some of them are hunters but mostly all thiefs.
Would be nice to switch job suit from time to, doing 1 job all the time gets kinda booring. They should return old jobing system and put 1hour cooldown for changing jobs and make it like beast mask even if u scroll, relog u still need to wait 1 hour.

The old system had a 10 min cooldown, however the dock was abused since it reset the time as you crossed.
I'm a hunter myself, neither capped, neither low. I'm 73. However, if i kill a thief once, gotta kill all thiefs since i can't tell if it's a low lvl or a high lvl wearing low lvl wep without a quick lion shout, but if it's a low lvl, i tell him i won't kill him again. It isn't really that much fun 1-hitting someone unless they just pissed you off or it's ctf and you wanna farm tickets for a lucky stone

Level cap is also a bad idea. Guild member starts getting robbed.
~Can someone help me out?
~Nope we're to high level to come kill the thief....
So higher level players can't really help out new players which can ruin a community. Yea it sucks you can't rob anyone because he has 2 lvl 90s but what if you were him? 10 lvl diff and you were the trader with a bunch of lvl 90s standing around watching some lower lvl thief come destroy you and steal all the loot.

Barotix posted a nice idea about a level cap a while ago, i really dont feel like digging it up. In essence the higher * someone had, the higher level player could attack him. I think that style of system is much better than a set generic level cap system.

instead of having 10 lvls restriction, i think map area restriction is best. Since jangan/const is the starting point for chinese and euro all the low lvl should be able to go job there. Higher lvl with job suit can not enter at jangan/const, instead they enter karam roc, kara, takla, and hotan areas only. The mid lvl ppls go to samk and dw areas.
