Same, if we got one then I would.

We had one. Two or three vents I think actually. They work for a while but slowly die out.

Nothing's stopping you from creating your own IRC channel, if you want to. Just need to pick server/provider and decide who you want as aops. It wouldn't be any more permanent than the Vent solution.

The main problem I see is dcc's in IRC, if someone gets caught sharing illegal files and you have SRF's name on it.

There was some discussion on a chat room, but nothing has really come out of it, to my knowledge.

There's an IRC up right now... it's not official SRF but most of us hang out there. It's invite only, if you didn't get one don't ask for one.
