They can.
I think it's rather easy to scan data for large amounts of gold transactions.
But wth they don't even proper ban bots, so why bully gold buyers..

If they search the database and find out which characters (especially low level chars) are invovled in exchange of 10mil+ gold daily. Then they can ban them. I think that's how SOME of the goldbuyers/goldsellers were banned. Probably not all of them.

uhh no that doesnt work, my stall char had 2bil gold on it. but it did get banned... i didnt buy silk eheh. But you cant ban a low lvl just for having a lot of gold. If joymax cared they would just try buying gold from each site that spammed then banning the chars that sold it to them lolz...

In fact Joymax can trace golds flow, look at how they banned people who involved in gold duping back to long time ago can tell. Also, Csro GM doing similar things to freeze all the accounts that related to reported account hacking issues.

The problems left are how to define one buying golds, and for sure, if they wanna do so.

JM can trace gold flow, but they do not ban gold buyers.
When I quit Alps, i gave a friend of mine 900m. I told him to set up a store selling herb for 900m, then I bought it.
What I am trying to say is, there are ppl who give out huge amount of gold for free.
Its easy for JM to trace gold flow, but its hard for them to tell who/which is bought gold.

To answer your question. No, JM do not ban gold buyers.

Jagex. xD I'd say let them take over but then they're ruin SRO just like RS2...

But what is a guild mate gave me 50m to borrow or have because he's a really high level? I dunno if that'd work. Good idea though. ;)

JM can absolutely trace what items/gold goes where.
Some of the old Cali Employees had a tool they messed around with.
They could trace an item to all it's old owners. This was also possible to do with gold.

But JM is lazy and doesnt do shit...hope they one day bann all gold buyers and sellers.

Exactly. It would seem this is especially easy after they get gold bots onto the ban list. They could perform a search of their database for large transactions from banned bots to other players. Those banned bots of course have gold "belonging" to gold companies. So if bfdfdfkhkh were to give me 500 million gold, and then later show up on a bot ban list, that is a pretty good sign that I bought gold.

I think Joymax should be able to do that. They could even ban (temporarily at least) if you just APPEAR to be doing something wrong. More like a ban-warning. Like saying "wise up or you're gone forever."

There was times I transfered over a billion and a half to my lvl 16 staller.. that should not make me a goldseller.

No, but if the character that transferred the money ends up on a bot ban list, then it is a little more realistic to assume that the lvl 16 staller bought that gold, especially if the banned character is one that has been spamming in town about various gold sites.

Disclaimer: That is assuming that, when you buy gold, you actually receive it from gold spammers in town, or maybe other characters on the same account, or different accounts from the same IP subnet.
