In only 6 days i used up 400mb playing sro alone? How can that be? Isn't sro is mostly upload? I know my internet plan is really gay, but where i'm from, I have a 300mb cap and that costing me like 100USD a month, cause I live in a jungle. But man, i'm capped.

Anyone know whats going on? I normall stall and sometime I grind, I leave it on for sometime 8 hours a day, mostly waiting for unique, and I do come on everyday (for only 6 days).

No bot accusation pls, its getting old.

Also is there a way to limit myself, a program or some sort to cap my own internet when it reaches a certain limit? Coz i wanna stay on but I want to know whats my limit.

OT:Yea SRO is eating loads of MB for me too,tho i have unlimited cap lul.

IMHO you get the info about other players/mobs/etc. through downloading 'em from the server of SRO. Maybe stalling in crowded places eats up that much of downloaded data.

I see your location is Australia...unfortunately, internet is not cheap in Australia.

Since you live out in the boonies it's even more expensive...my aussie friends internet is capped at like 6 or so gigabytes and they live in Sydney - It's tough being an Aussie gamer.

No acutally it is hard, since most have a 20-24gig cap.

i use netlimiter for a long time, and as i saw the up and down from sro its like 1-3kb up/ sec and 1kb down, so i wonder how u can gain 400mb

capped connections are teh sux.. i have 8/1mbit unlimited. costs around 50bucks/month

Hey, I never said I lived there...I was just saying what was RELAYED to me from friends who live in Australia, believe it or not SOME aussie's get the short end of the stick when it comes to internet connection....100mb cap at 100usd IS expensive compared to living in the boonies in the U.S. we get unlimited connection 'cause we're not on giligans freaking island.

It's different when you don't live localized in Australia...you pay for what you can....okay, sure, you have a 24mb/s with 50gb download but your paying what YOU can, not what everyone in Australia does.

Also your 24mb/s is based off of your land line...you get 24mb/s connection to Australia's network scheme, not the world....you guys don't have the densitity of networks as USA/Europe/Asia does therefore your prices are higher. The U.S. has unlimited connection for 20 dollars and the U.K. has it for 30 pounds, 70 dollars to 30 pounds/20 dollars is quite the difference when we can spend the extra 50 dollars elsewhere, Australian internet is expensive when you compare it to powerhouse countries.

According to [SW]XMoshe, leaving Silkroad on 24/7 for a month only uses up a couple of mb.

An ISP that keeps track is good.



There's also some programs that you can run whenever you're online to keep it monitored. They're a bit of a hassle, though. 'Unlimited' internet is crap anyway, they all come with a fair usage policy unless you're paying in the hundreds.

hm i can see how it can add up to a few hundred mb a month...

its like 1kb/s in sro probably, you stream? the data from people running around town every second

just stand out where no one runs around in town if you stall and grind where it is fairly empty

I managed to call it giligans island...didn't mean harm by it.

Notice how I said U.S., Asia and Europe...I said U.S. gets unlimited internet even in the boonies(backblocks), other than that my whole statement was speaking of 3 major provinces, not just the U.S.

Other programs such as when an anti-virus program updates and the windows update feature take up quite a bit network bandwidth, you could try disabling them but I wouldn't recommend that.
Playing videos on youtube, browsing the internet...whatever you are doing is stacking up in the end to 100mb.

from what i can tell sro only uses about 1 to 3 kb/s when not in town in town it is a little more. dial up users could play np if they did not need to go to town.

I live in a Mid-sized Australian city, Internet is well, not too expensive here - I'm on a 25GB/month plan, that costs 80$ per month, or something along those lines.

disable auto updates for window's,
when i was visiting family in aus (cairns ' townsville) broadband was i think only available from optusnet with plans like 400mb starter pack, or 1 gig a month *go large plan* lol,
(you see the advertsiments at all the airports)

i always remember thinking to myself as soon as they connect there modems windows update is gona cap them, and when your capped its a fcking disaster, something like 32k per sec (half the speed of dial up)

OK Thanks guys for the input. I will try every method to ensure i didn't get screwed over by the internet company. I am atm not in Australia, I'm working oversea in south east asia. The way things work here are different, and where I am living is still in developing state in the internet sector. But its pretty fast for an internet that actually, almost literrally in the jungle lol.
