Whats needed to play SRO?

Post by kthnxbai »

This maybe prolly discussed before, but i had discussion with my guildmate today.

Whether you need skill to play or not?

He said that if u have good gear, lvl and lots of gold to buy good gear, you can pawn easily, no skill needed, how true is this? Its not.

Imo, you need skill to play your character, you should know what to use when and the tactics.

Hes like, even a 5 year old can pawn if i gave him lvl 90 guy with good gear -.-

bullshit i said,

whats ur say

(Lots of people buying billions of gold and getting to 90 botting 24/7 and only getting out at the time of jobbing makes me sick!! ) FULL OF SOSUN that is :@

You need luck to play this game. Its all about gear and luck. All about that one guy with full sun. The guy who gets that lucky crit to win the pvp. The guy who gets the stun to save his life in pvp. The guy who gets the sun drops. The guys who is lucky in alchemy. The list goes on.
Yes there is some strategy when it comes to pvp but all of those thing contribute.
Only strategy to pvp is when your picking your attacks according to what happens between you and that other guy instead of spamming the numbers.

What is needeed to play in SRO and what is needed to be a god is different. To play SRO you need patience, alot of free time, a small amount of intelligence and skill, and luck.

To become a god in SRO you need alot of money, a small amount of luck and skill, a bot or alot of free time, and alot of money to buy the gold for your sun set.

The saying cheaters never win is incorrect, they do in SRO.

Code: Select all
look at the yellow box in the skill bar

thats the second reason i fückin hate pvp:
even noobs who slam all keys with an attack skill can beat you,

the only difference is the equipment then

No there is no skill really. If you had all sun +9 pimped gear and a weapon +14 pimped and your character was capped and fully farmed. You would be unstoppable. Even if you were half farmed or still had skills leveled from the previous cap, you would own just be selecting and mashing 123456789 etc

Although lets say you fight an opponent who has the same gear? or equivalent then who ever hit or stuns or gets lucky will win the fight. I have fought all and even 8 or 10 levels below me with Sun or Star items and they hit close to my damage (I was capped and farmed), our hits were close but their critical damage was a lot higher.

Now how about people with normal gear? +5 pimped etc, its the same really, who ever gets lucky or hits first.

There is a shield change skill but again its all just button presses ie: Space 1, Space 2, button presses everyone's been doing since learning the first time how to type.

There is lightning phantoms to distance yourself from your opponent but really its just a point and click (middle click or w/e short-key you use) followed by a series of more button mashes 123453456 etc

SRO skill? No. I have been in many battles and gear determines the winner every time. Some people can't play any other game except SRO or SRO like-games simply because they just don't have the skill. I tried to get my friends who were awesome at SRO PVP to play a real fighting game and they just couldn't handle it.

Guildwars pvp had so much strategy, the fact that you had to plan a spike to kill somebody and not just 1nuke them made it so much more intense. But I like the sro community better then I did GW, cuz GW was just too serious D:

I think you do need a little bit of skill. For example I have played my rogue character for like 2 months without playing any other type of character. Then I logged on my nuker and everything felt different. I had no clue what was the best way to pvp, and it took quite a bit of time to get used to a chinese again. Not really skill, it just takes some time getting use to and luck doesn't hurt.

It does require some skill, I don't simple smash the skills, I know what build my enemy has, and what's his hp. So I use the skills based on the damage I deal. I won't use mars if his hp is 20k, I just use it if its lower than 7k as example, as heuskal user you should only use mars to reload your hp, or as last skill to kill your enemy.

+1 yeah its not really skill, its intelligence, if you know your enemy better then he knows you, he will need pure luck to win. Plus its based a lot on reaction to certain skills and attacks :O

10% of pvp is skill while the other 90% is gear, luck, and farming.

And most of the "skill" in pvp is simply memorizing patterns of keystrokes from repetition. True skill is being able to react to changing situations, such as if you are fighting someone and suddenly get double teamed.

I'm so sorry ZodiacKiller removed his videos from yourube. There was a video I always used to prove how skill can be a deciding factor in PvP. If someone remembers ZodiacKillers III-rd video, the PvP one... it's not about the weapon switching from sword to spear alone. The well timed ghost walks, balanced nuking/weapon skills, as opposed to his opponent glaiver who was mashing SSS + GSM, and ghost walking at the really wrong time, made the fight a clear win for the INT, even though the STR packed the power/damage to potentially win, provided, of course, the user would have had even a tiny bit of skill and anticipation.

You'd be surprised. Most people don't know how to lure, or tank, or do anything really. Some are okay, most suck balls.

well, 1h will require more skill mostly because of the pot delay. they need to know wat skills to use at wat time. u dont see a good 1h warrior using mana skin when fighting a blader . so lets say they are pvping a bow char. im gonna use warrior in general ( all weps) because i dont know wat 1h skills can do. the bowman uses the 21 m phantom. now a good warrior will use sprint assault. if the warrior doesnt know anything about their build at all, they will just try to catch up with the bowman, and because of their ha, they will be dead meat by the time they are able to attack. lets say the bowman is about to use strong bow/devil arrow. both these skills take a reasonalbe amount of time to cast. and a crit on one of these will result in the warrior being dead (or almost dead). the warrior needs to cancel off the attack, by either using kb/kd if they 2h, kb if they are 1h, or stun if they are using DA. and thats just in pvp. in pve (in a party), warriors have a hard job as tanks.

being a blader is quite easy. use imbue, chains, kd, double stabs (if they kded them), another kd, stabs (if they kded them), chains, repeat. they may use their 2 range skills depending on the switching, but, meh.

Wrong.
A blader is the most strategic player. First they need to kd when they are low on health or in a tight situation. A good blader sticks to combos being maxing DPS gets you kills, not spamming buttons.
Every good player I've talked to that has other characters or has switched from another pure str build to blade say its much tougher. They say that in other builds there are times you can just spam, it doesn't work as well but you can. As a blader they say that spamming almost never works. Going from a move that has a fast transition to one that has a slow one is bad to spam. For example GSM for a glaiver. After using the move it has about 3-4 seconds before you can use another move. Well bladers have similar skills. Going into situations like that for a blader ruins the flow of damage. Only time good bladers tend to spam kd is if they wanna piss you off or when they have effects on their lightning chain.
The video posted above is a horrible example. The person spams against people that are 3-6 lvls below him. Yeah real hard to kill people 5 lvls under you by spamming. Even with that the person had a fairly difficult time. Showing how much it doesn't work. Also the only pvp against someone his own lvl, he got owned.
Spamming the buttons does not and will not work against good player.
