But seriously, its a graphic card problem. Try goto your computer's manufacture site and search for your computer model upgrade software.

It has never been proven that it has anything to do with your graphics card. More than likely, the reason it isn't fixed is because that error message covers a lot ground (in addition to the fact that JM does not give a shit).

And what is this Farking "go to your manufacture's site"? Either you have ati or you have nvidia. That means you go to ati or nvidia's site. It is highly unlikely that what ever brand of card you have, they would deviate from the reference design of the board to such a degree that you would need a custom made driver.

For sweet mjustice i will post something i wrote a long time ago, it will fix your problem

tedtwilliger wrote:I use to freeze every time i went to town, or i use to get the ??? error a lot. So what i did is the following ( screenshots included ) and it solved my problems. Although I typed this all myself I got the info from the technical help section, where you should of gone first.

First of all to fix those pesky dc errors, we do the following. Go into the silkroad folder in the program files, then for each of the four .exe's right click and go to properties. Whilst in properties go to compatibility, and change the compatibility mode to windows 98/me.

Image

Now do this for each of the four .exe’s They are labeled sro_client, replacer, silkroad and SilkErrSender

Now that should hopefully fix the ??? errors, though i chose to do this next step as well as it fixes problems where my computer just freezes when in town. Note the fact that this must be done every time you load up your client. So its best to do it at the character selection screen, as theres no point doing it if your client closes when you fail to log in on the first attempt.

Now when your client is all nice and loaded up, hit the windows key and proceed to use the crtl alt del combination. When at this screen, right click on the sro_client and click on go to process.

Image

Now from here, right click on sro_client.exe, then go to priority, then set it to high as opposed to normal

Image

Now if you have a dual core computer, like myself, you can also set the affinity so it runs off one as opposed to 2. I don’t know the logic behind it, but it fixed my problem. So now once again right click on the sro_client exe and go to Set Affinity, it should be right below the set priority option. From here, click the boxes so just the 1st cpu is clicked.

Image

Now you must do this each and every time you open the client, but it has been a perfect solution for me. I hope it works for you too.

p.s If theres any mistakes someone please say so and ill fix them. Im very tired so i did this without paying too much attention >.<

I have utter confidence that it will work. Looking forward to hear a response though. ( also this is a subtle bump just in case anyone has a similar problem, reads this and finds the solution )

The actual problem is that Silkroad does NOT support multi core for some reason. The game runs perfect on my friends' computers, but on my Quad one... I mustn't enter, before I don't assign Silkroad to a single core. If I don't do that I get this ??? error after a few minutes ot the client just starts taking up a HUGE amount of RAM (the most I remember was 1,7GB =_=").
