Regarding Banning Ex-Botters

First off, i cant post in the EB, thats why im posting this here.
I was brosing through EB, and i saw a guy admit that he botted. but he said he used to bot, and he doesn't play sro anymore. but he got banned. another said the same thing, but he got banned. i saw another guy's thread about him amitting he botted, and he still plays sro, but as a legit. he gave up his botted char, and started a legit one. but he got banned

.
I am not saying dont ban botters. i hate botters as much as evry one else here, but why ban ex-botters? everyone deserves a 2nd chance write?
So lets create a scenario:
Scenario 1: Someone by the name of Bob loves the SRF community. But he bots. He knows clery that botting will get him banned, so he stops botting. he is happy with himself, but doesn't like keeping secrets with srf. so he posts that he used to bot, but he is fully legit now, but he still gets banned. Bob gets mad, he goes to google, and types "isro bot" to start botting again

.
Now we just lost a legit player. But lets see what happens if things turn out differently

.
Scenario 2: Someone by the name of Bob loves the SRF community. But he bots. He knows clery that botting will get him banned, so he stops botting. He is happy with himself, and makes a topic about him becoming legit. the admin, seeing bob turning legit, is very happy. He doesnt ban him, and Bob stays legit

. Another guy named Sam loves srf too, but he bots too. He looks at Bob's topic, and finds out the admin decided not to ban Bob. He doesn't wanna get banned, and knows that if he keeps botting, he will get banned. so he deletes his botted account and becomes legit. This trend continues for a long time as srf-loving closet botters turn into legits

.
So u see, just a little change in policies can get us a lot of legits, and decrease the botter population

. As for me, i have never botted, and will never bot

.
Plz post ur thoughts, and i wish this might change some of srf's rules

. Again, I m not saying dont ban botters, im saying there is no use in banning ex-botters

.

i'd really like to see what people will come up with to prove that they don't bot anymore lol. It better be a video of god saying " ok he's clean, he doesn't bot anymore, you can unban him now." And nothing less.

If Bob is a murderer, and all of a sudden, he stops murdering people, should he not be "banned" [jailed in this term]. Think of all the people "Bob" hurt [the community]
Bob can go **** himself

well comparing murder where lives are indangered and bots that ruin a game that you dont have to play or play.

This community promotes closet botter, people that pretends they are so legit yet they are actually devils botting in the game. As much as I hate botters, still I know so many nice people that does it and is so close to me daily in the game.
The basic rule of survival applies in this forum
"Do whatever you want, just don't get caught" =p

The game is a grind and users need to understand that, if they can't handle the grind they should try an easier game and un-install iSRO. A game is meant to be played and they don't/can't/won't play.

I think you missed the point of why he used murder... That situation is being used to serve a point, you are suppose to recognise that.
The idea is that by exaggerating the action you are able to easily identify where the initial situation is blurred. In this case, it points out that for previously botting he deserves a ban.

he is happy with himself, but doesn't like keeping secrets with srf.
So not only he's addicted to SRO, he thinks SRF is his girlfriend? I think he got bigger issues than just being a bot
OT: ban them for life

thats the thread that inspired me to write this

. but that wsnt the only one.
@Backfire: U are saying murdering ppl in real life is the same as botting in a game

. maybe u could simplify that?
@TOloseGT: I agree with u, but what if, when he turns legit, he is so happy with himself that he wants to share?
@EastWind: Its just a scenario u idiot -.-

Breaking a big rule in real life deserves a harsh punishment irl. Breaking a big rule in game/ on forums deserves a harsh punishment in game/ on forums. Why is it so hard for people to understand metaphors.

You do realize that bots get caught because they didn't care
1- Make a name diferent from your char
2- Don't say the name of your char
Now HOW will you find out that he bots?

Well like u said, i dont get that kind of comparing

. Maybe u can make it simplier? because comparing rl to a game is hard for me.
@JoyFax: If the bots do that, then the ppl in srf will be suspicious.

Why? By not saying his char name? So many people hide it even on posting screenshots (scared of hackers? Just don't want to show? bots? noone knows for sure)

Its not a comparison it is a metaphor in which one thing that you can relate to and understand stands in for another.
You understand in MMOs there are rules, correct?
You understand in Life there are rules, correct?
You understand the biggest rule in MMOs is no botting, correct?
You understand the biggest rule in life is no killing, correct?
You understand the punishment for both is banishment from the community, correct?
So I set up a metaphor: "Yeah I murdered, but I'm a nice person so don't send me to jail."
Translates to: "Yeah I botted, but I'm a nice person so don't ban me". When rules are broken you're punished, another matter: Murder can ruin your own life and the life of the family you murdered, likewise botting can indirectly ruin your gaming experience and the community. I could go on but I feel it will fall on death ears.
In order words: The highest crime irl is replaced with the highest crime in mmos and the punishment irl is replaced with the punishment in game. What you're thinking of is an analogy such as:
Steroids is to Sports as Botting is to MMOs.

When they have made the char legitly, they are proud and try to show their IGN. And also, u cant hack with the IGN, u need the Username.
@Barotix: Maybe the biggest crime irl is muderring, and the biggest crime in a game is botting, but they re so different. Murdering will stay like a stain. it will keep on coming up in ur credit files and stuff, but botting wont. after a bot has deleted a botted account and started a new legit one, the stain is gone.

half the level 80 people on SRF are probably botters, but we will never know.

The stain is gone? Players in the MMO and forums related the MMO will always bring it up. The stain stays, people won't forget. Like those "rumors" about avalon, I don't know if they're true or not but people sure don't let the stain (if there was any) wash off. As long as the MMO exist and you reveal your former Identity then the stain will never leave. Murderers, like former botters, can seek a new identity after incarceration.
I understand you, Irl =/= In Game, but the same rules and logic apply. Steroids are to Sports as Botting is to MMOs. Murder (metaphors) is/(are) to extreme IMO and can only be pulled off in certain context.

alright i got a story for you. this guy and his friend go to a bar they both get drunk. they drive home and run into a tree killing the passenger. when the driver went to court they gave him probation and not jail for murder with a car. so explain why people how murder get a less of a sentence? so if someone bots and admits it but dosent bot anymore and joins the legit side is it the worst thing he could do.
