Shutting Bot/Gold selling websites down LEGALLY

Well than, here we go
SRF has started a war on bots, but is it helping at all? Maybe it has stopped bots on the forum, but bots will bot no matter what SRF says. This is an option to do some serious damage to bots everywhere.
How does this work? This technique is based on the fact that the more bandwidth thats consumed, the more money they have to pay. Its a kind of Denial-of-service attack, BUT its 100% legal. All you are doing is reload the website multiple times. Three websites of the Church of Scientology has been shutdown by similar methods, and so has numerous fake bank websites. The best part is, the damage dealer is a simple, a seemingly innocent Firefox plugin
Lets start!First thing you need to do is get Firefox
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/Firefox is needed because you can add the plugin thats needed to do this, plus the fact Firefox is just better,
Next stepGet the Firefox plugin, Reload every, which can be found here
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/115Step 3Start Firefox » type "about:config" in the Address Bar » enter or change the following settings to what you see below:
browser.cache.disk.capacity | 0 (integer)
browser.cache.disk.enable | false (boolean)
browser.cache.memory.capacity | 0 (integer)
browser.cache.memory.enable | false (boolean)
If you skip this step or mess this up, everything after this will be useless.
Now for the fun part
Now go to a gold selling website. I would post a link, but the mods would delete it. If we got maybe 20+ members to do this on the same website, we could really do some damage. One person alone cannot do anything. Lets just say that our first target is the first result in google for bot258. First, right click somewhere on the page. The small menu should pop up. I forget the name, its that menus that pops up when you right-click. Anyway, one of the options should be "Reload Every". Hover your mouse over it. Press custom. Make the amount of time 0 minutes and Na OR 1-5 seconds. NA will reload the page constantly.
It will continue to reload constantly. (I am currently reloading bot258 every 1 second)
Please help!I know many people will just read this and say, "This guy is noob, he haz lows post count" or something like that and will not even read this, or post something pessimistic. This could really work if we get lots of people doing this. Just try it. If you plan to help, the first target is the first web result in google when you search for bot258. Hopefully we can get it to crash within a month
AND PLEASE POST CLEARLY WHETHER OR NOT YOU WILL BE HELPING! ThanksJust trying to put in my help in the war against bots.

Sounds good but I don't know much about this stuff.
Would be nice if some other users gave their input first.

Why can't it? Church of Scientology websites have been shut down in a similar way.
Even if not bot258, we could just go to gold selling websites, like the first result in google for sro gold.

We need more people, I cannot do it alone. If I could, I would not even be posting here...
and the fact that you seem to think that you can do this kind of stuff in one day.

we need to set a schedule on the website, so that everyone hits a website at the same time. making it go down

That may work, but i think a loop would do more damage than that. One crash vs multiple crashes.

The Scientology ones weren't done by mundane resources such as refresh or anything like that. It was done by one or two people who had large botnets. Trust me, you'd need a lot more than just 20-30 people to bring down just about any website.

It seems like a good idea, I don't know much about this...but if I can follow your instructions and figure it out, I'll definently be doing this for the next week or so...see if it works...but don't expect me to stick around too long..I got SRO to play

Somebody? You need numerous(30+) people to shut down one website, hence why I am asking for help from the srf community

The false bank webistes were taken down with a script called lad vampire, which virtually does the same thing I am talking about. Sadly, lad vampire is not available anymore.

Pretty sure this is still illegal, and it would be smarter to go after the servers that authenticate the bots anyway. As far as methods go, Project Chanology used JMeter.

This is a very good idea!. I know that for every website there's bandwidth limit and just by refreshing their site, it will increase the bandwidth usage.
Will this do it automatically while surfing the web? Or do you have to do it manually?

To izmeister:
Sure, you could try to start your little revolution and get people doing this against bot sites and gold selling sites but have you ever considered what would happen if they ALL did the same back to SRF? Do you have any idea how many people would be more willing to "LEGALLY" take down SRF or any site that suggested such practices because it supported the idea that it could raise the bot and gold prices of thousands of users by causing a DOS attack?
There is a reason why sites don't promote this kind of behavior or the types of behavior that would interfere with the operations or business of another large site. Retaliation. That is why SRF stays to itself as 0x33 stays to itself, as Bot369, Bot258, Botsmall all keep to themselves. No one wants to start a little "virtual war" because in the long run, no one wins except with the person with the most resources. And considering that the bot sites are quite a large business with plenty of money to go around, I'm sure they could fix whatever little problems you are trying to give them they so choose.
Anyways, the staff of SRF are smart people. They wouldn't publicly accept and support such actions to be taken out against anyone. For those very reasons I mentioned above.
http://www.silkroadforums.com is SRF's territory. They can do whatever they want here and do. They want to provide a nice clean site for people who choose to morally and rule-abidingly play the game. That's all. Anything outside of that though, that's how people get into real trouble trying to force your ideas on other people.
You can argue this is "legal" all you want but the matter of the fact is that the sites you are suggesting attacking are business sites and unless you are a competing business trying to run out that business site, you won't be doing any good. You can argue all you want against the morality of such sites existing but they have the same right to operate and do business as any other site. Try to pull this "legal" activity on a .GOV site and see how legal it really is
Anyways, I digress

Very well said.
I'd just like to also add: even if you took down the site completely, do you think it'll 'stop gold botting'? To tell you some truth that you might know, and possibly you don't, a lot of people (regular players) run their own gold botting army to gather gold. There's no business there, no website to take down. What will you do against them?
Oh and I believe your method is illegal regardless, I saw bandwidth leeching is against the law some time ago. And keep in mind that such frequent refreshes will just get your IP banned from the host and your ISP contacted. Nothing good really.
It's nice though that people trying to look into getting rid of bots outside of SRF as well, I think that's the way to go. =)

This matter is to be discussed by the mod team.
In meanwhile locked.
Edit
Final decision: even though we despise gold companies / sites the way that is proposed by izmeister is not the way to go. As we cannot influence the game directly, we're trying to create a legit community here. SRF is the legit community. What happens outside, stays outside. Any questions regarding this matter can be send to someone of the moderating team.
