Warlock vs Wizzard

Wizzard = High DPS? (not too sure cuz am not a wizzy)
Warlock = DoT + Debuffs
I have asked this Q b4, if a warlock and a wizzy takes on LY, who would take the kill.
Some say Lock some say Wiz.
Wizzy does some really insage damage, so no doubt abt that.
For ppl who says that Warlock will get the kill, I just don't get it. Pls explain?
Warlock can hav maximum 2 DoT on one mob at any 1 time. The DoT last for 12 seconds, which means in that 12 seconds you only landed 2 nukes on the target. Wizzy could hav at least landed 4 nukes on the target in 12 secs. Yes you can still cast the flower nuke during that 12 sec. However, I just don't see how will a warlock outdamage a Wizzy anyhow?

it actually depends. If they are fighting the same mob, then wizard. Wizard would get to take advantage of the warlocks debuffs.
If it wasn't the same mob, but 2 ly's and they are racing to see who can kill theirs first, than wizard still. Seriously the wizard could sub warlock, put on the magical defense de buff and then kill it faster anyway.

No, warlock is a utility class. Too many think warlocks are damage dealers, which is completely wrong.

No doubt, wizard gets the kill.
I don't see how any other class can outdamage a wizard (at yarkan).
Only if you ban all those wizard from the party the yarkan kill goes to someone else.

He was referring to the question, not warlocks in general.
Personally i think a warlock should be played in a player v player group fight as a support class as opposed to a damage dealer.

No, it does answer the question to. They are a utility class, not just a sub class. Going by his logic, clerics are just a sub class too, which is an insult to cleric mains.

I out damaged a Wizard to get a Yarkan kill with my Warlock.
The longer the mob stays alive, the greater the chance of a Warlock beating a Wizard. Both in terms of damage and survivability.
You can get more than 2 DoT on Yarkan. Most DoTs I've got on a single target is 6. Also, if a Warlock takes a bit of time to kill the elites, they can zerk Yarkan more than once. Not to mention that Wizards cause much more aggro than a Warlock. If they're going to use their strong AoE nukes, and are in Life Turnover, there is good chance that they will get the kill. However, there is also a strong chance that they will die.

what's the point?
if a wiz solo's yarkan, he's dead
if a lock solo's yarkan, he's dead
conclusion: none would get it
if soloing on pve: warlock owns wiz: if a wiz in life turnover gets caught off guard or when there are party mobs/giants = dead wiz, a warlock can tank a giant or pty mob (sleep + trap, debuffs, etc help a lot + double the wiz's hp & shield)
and 12sec dot? lol, get your passive's up man... 60% at lvl 70 (asuming you're lvl 80, u will have this skill) = 12 * 1.6 = 19.2 sec
and about damage per second: 2 dots, status from dots, trap, shadow armor, reflect & nukes... want more dmg per second done???
in a pty: characters find themselves on a continiuum line from tank to dmg dealer. wiz is at the end of the dmg dealer, warlock goes more to tank side then wiz (erm, before you flamers begin, im talking about a continiuum, as a straight line, where wiz is 10 (dmg dealer end), a lock would be 7-8. both need a tank)
however, as Da_realest states: a lock would get more chance as long as the mob stays alive, depending aswell on the mobs around, as on so many more things. if a lock can get 6 dots on, manages to keep disease, debuffs, all dots,... on at all times, getting zerk on the way a couple times, i honestly believe a lock will get it down faster then a wiz. so on clinical terms (yarkan standing there, not attacking, and non-attacking mobs around him, with an affection to every status off 100%) a lock would most likely kill it first. Then ask yourself, what's the point of this??? this is as far as being realistic as me becomming the pope.
besides... what's the point of outdamaging each other when you should work together? somehow you ...... still didn't find that out eh?! why else would you be questioning it then

Agreed, doing dot's on yarkan, taking care of mobs at the same time. I don't agro mobs, I have single attack spells and I have mob attacking spells, my dots can take care of yarkan as well as me debuffing him to make them do more dmg. Plus my dots can make him hae bleed effect which is like having another magicle debuff on him plus i can dull to slow his attacks down, lol.
Survival rate of a warlock is greater then a wizard just for the sole purpose that we have vamp and they don't. If i'm running low on mp i can vamp, plus I can use reflection to return some of yarkans dmg or mobs dmg when they try to attack me when i'm attacking them, so warlocks do have the advantage to some extent. It's true that wizards will out damage but as for surviving to kill and tell the tale is a different story all together =p.

if the warlocks debuffed only helped the warlock, he would win 100% of the time.
since the debuffs also help the wizard, the wizard ends up doing insane damage and wins. the dots are just not fast enough and your limited to useing only a few per mob so that sucks.

Yea, the debuffs are helping all who kill the same target.
For the DoT's, yes, you can cast only 2 on a mob, but if you cast 2 AoE DoT's on the mob next to the primary target, the primary target gets the 2 AoE's, so that makes 4 DoT's on a mob.

Click on a pt member who is targeting LY, and hit the Target Support button.

durr neither cuz they both die.
assuming yarkan was stuck the wizard would of course get the kill because the wizard would out damage the warlock hands down plus bleed would just add to it
