okay, so i dont have enough sp for both firebolt and meteor for 90cap....which one should i get?


firebolt:
pro:quick cd(4s,can spam with frozen spear),decent damage, single target
con:lower damage than meteor, single target

meteor:
pro:highest damage, small aoe (3m)
con:long cd(10.5s)

I'm told meteor owns.

Take both, get rid of something else, like frozen spear. Frozen spear sucks. It takes long to fire and it has low damage. Anyone who can 1 hit the mob you're hitting has 2 chances to ks you.

Just get both, if you only have to get one, get normal fire one (whatever it's called). Meteor is way way stronger, but it's cooldown time will be a bitch.

no point in getting both...when you use 1...the other has the same cool down at the same time so there is no point...

Well if your not sure then up fire bolt untill lvl 60 *when you get meteor* then you can decide if you want to keep it or not.
*you'll really want fire bolt for lvls 4-60*

have to agree, for low levels like mine firebolt is very useful especially when soloing...so i mostly upgrade this skill...when i get to 60 will get meteor surely and then decide...

im 76lv and i currently have both maxed, but i need to delv one to max another....

I got both, Firebolt is insanely fast and barely any cooldown while Meteor is just insane damage and slight AOE.

well you probably want to get firebolt because it costs MUCH less mana, otherwise you will be running out of mana and get farked, also you should get frozen sphere cuz that uses very very low mana.

The fastest solo grinding is frozen spear(@IGod - Frozen spear is an excellent skill for solo grinding, and its dmg is almost the same as fire bolt with the triple shot, and it's not so slow as it might seem..) ->fire bolt->frozen spear->fire bolt, and sometimes earth shock for aoe etc etc etc etc.. boring, but very fast.

As for meteor, it's your main killing skill in PvP, cause of the great dmg obviously, the best dmg a wizard can get out of his staff, and less for solo PvE cause cool down is 10 seconds, might be usefull when u wanna bring down a giant down while zerking though.

So, i'm afraid to tell u got to extra farm for those skills, or you'll be an uncompleted wizard imo..

P.S.
Wizard doesnt need so much sp, cause it has only few skills that are needed, compared to other builds. So dont be cheap on the important skills cause u'll be sorry later

If you have to take 1 it is Meteor. You can still solo grind with it by using that and the other AoE's for 1 shot on mobs a few levels higher.

I have to agree with ShadowReaver as it being super important for anyone who solos a lot. Fire Bolt and Frozen Spear are pretty much equivalent in damage and they are 1 hits to monsters near your level. They can be used back to back, MP cost is low, and Fire Bolt/Frozen Spear are really fast casts.

When you get higher you should definitely farm the one you didn't get, unless you get both.

farm for both.

For pve if you have pet to collect money etc. firebolt+frozen spear is the fastest combination everymob is one shot and low cooling time in pvp meteor is a must so take'em both

go for firebolt
for grinding that one is much more useful
solo grind only requires frozen spear and firebolt ~ they have about the same speed

meteor is only really useful when you really want to bomb someone.. i.e. a thief or a hunter. For grinding, meteor has a cooldown thats too long (10 seconds) and the aoe can get you in trouble because it can get more mobs to you (not good for a low hp wiz)

Stop using frozen spear if you don't want to keep getting ksed while trying to kill mobs, the skill takes much longer time to fire than earth quake or blizzard or any other nuke(chinese included), and for me it's pointless, you're a euro, when you get ksed by a chinese its embarrassing. My grinding combo is usually firebolt->earth quake->firebolt->blizzard->etc. and I gotta say it works very well.

Wizards are made for 1 hit kills, frozen spear is just when there's no one around to ks you or you don't want to attract other mobs..

wrong, frozen spear is the smartest attack to use, if you cast at the same time a chinese does you will get it, if your first bolt hits it cancels the other players attack and you get the kill, try it if you dont believe me, but the main reason is check the mp usage of that skill, its up to 3 1/2 times lower then some of the other skills, frozen spear is the lowest and fire bolt is second lowest.

and if your in an area with alot of mobs you WILL run out of mp and have to use vigors, I almost run out using the 2 lowest skills and I 1 hit mobs since you can kill so fast.

MP usuage for skills lvl 80
frozen spear=1689
fire bolt=1779
blizzard=3163
earth quake=3796
meteor=4270
charged squal=5014

how I grinded was 1st mob fire bolt, 2nd mob frozen spear, 3rd mob fire bolt, 4th mob frozen spear, since the cooldown and you way less MP pots.
