Well, why do people still do these. It may work on a game where GM's/JM's care about you, however trying to scam people on a game where GM don't even give a rats behind, really isn't well... all that smart. People who fall for it are ever dumber than first expected.

Its true that most players know that, but scammers rely on the fact that a minority of players will fall for the scam, so they keep doing it. Players that fall for this are not dumb, just gullible and are not well informed. Would be nice to think that everyone always reads the regular pink notices from [GM]'s on every server once in a while.

LOL
Even Joymax doesnt have so many spelling mistakes. This scammer must be 12 years old. Moreover, GM's always spam us ingame that they will never ask for our login information etc.. this is just stupid. I wouldnt have fallen for that.
Saddens me to think though, that some people may have fallen for this already. *sigh* the scum in the world.

If it sounds too good to be true, it is too good to be true.

+1 to Snoopy: It might have a bigger chance of working if it was a game where the company cared. And even then, a company who does care will keep on telling its players they won't ever ask for information like that.

And they did countless times in notices / scripted messages.

Speaks the truth really. Anyone who falls for this.. deserves it IMHO. Doesn't take a genius to realize that the company will never need to ask for your account information, especially in an email.

I was GM on a game myself and it is very difficult to prevent this kind of stuff. It isn't difficult to create a hotmail or other address that looks like something official of the site and after creation the scammer goes to the official forum and other big forums related to the game to pick up all the email addresses showed in the forum profile of the players and sends his mail. I'm sure that players that don't show their email address somewhere on forums didn't receive that mail. I'm just afraid that younger players and players that aren't used to all the scam, phishing, hacking and less beautifull aspects of these games will be victim of this. And the GM's of JM will not help them out.
Perhaps the scammer picked up a couple of email addresses here, who knows.
