Why do people censor their character names in screenshots? Because obviously they are botters. Or is it for their security, maybe for security of not being caught botting in game and getting banned from here. A hacker can simply go in-game and grab your IGNs and hack you if that's what you're worrying about.

Your thoughts:

1) they dun wanna reveal their ingame identities
2) they see other ppl doing it
3) they're doing something illegal

Well....he has a point, your first point doesn't answer the question since he's asking WHY don't they want to reveal their identities.

thats the only reason i would think they would wanna do that =/.
so if they get caught botting there is no proof that its their char.

well, ppl do weird shit all the time, u can't always find a reason for them blocking out their names. it could be that they jus don't wanna reveal their identities cuz they jus dun wanna.

Actually I use to have my name here. But I noticed that as soon as posted a screenie here and it showed my lvl, I had a crap load of pm's and messages ingame asking for plvl. So that's why i blocked it. I don't play anymore so it dun really matter. But just an idea why some higher lvls might want their names blocked.

That would be the only reason I could think of.

I like to stay anonymous most of the time. My serious character names have never been BloodOwnzzz I only make test chars with those names. No matter how famous or infamous I might be I would rather remain unknown so it doesn't sway anyones idea of who I am.

well, i had a friend who i just found out botted
he's a great guy
but im gonna get him banned from srf and not know it was me, that is why i will hide my character and name in the screenshots i will post

That empty 9 and 10 slot and map button is SURELY gonna get me in trouble. That's why it's cencored.

This seems like a pretty good justification to me.

i used to have my ign in my sig when i wa splaying a few months ago, removed it cause people were pming me non stop.

one reason why i wouldnt show my nick in a screenshot would be so i can say things from my server on here and get away with it

OT: But most people who hide their names from screenshots are people that are really hated by all for all different reasons, their guild is known for botting, their known for botting in the past or present.

Then again some people do like their privacy.

Either way they like to stay hidden I guess.
