I was browsing through the list of banned bots and I noticed that they were mostly gold bots, with only one lvl 80 player bot that was banned from Xian. Obviously, the gesture of banning bots is nice, but what I really care about is player bots being banned. Seriously, if gold bots are banned, who cares? The bot companies will just make more of them. Sure, it will clear up the hotan grinding spots for awhile, but they're still farming gold..thus players (lazy-ass fools who can't make it on their own) are still able to buy gold....now, the players that buy gold, buy silk, and bot...I've only seen one of them get banned...that's really disappointing..JoyMax isn't tackling the big problem of player botters with full SOSun (Hopefully 90 cap dims this down a bit, but those lv 90 capped botters will still buy gold and get +9 or higher weapons with nice sets)....

All of this lead me to wonder....how are the bot bans regulated? Does a GM just follow a gold bot trail out of town and ban the bots that he sees in the line? Does he go to grind spots and actually try and pick out people botting? Does he look for stuck points?

To me...it seems like the GMs are being lazy and only banning the bots that are in the huge goldbot line cycle (whatever you call their daily bot routine)...It would be a lot more satisfying to me, and probably to any higher leveled legit out there, if the GMs would focus more on player bots. Gold bots being banned is nice, but let's face it, it's not the gold bots that are pvping, jobbing, and getting full sun sets...it's the player bots (although some of those player bots probably run gold bots on a multi-client..but still..it's all transferred to their main account [I think]).

I think they just go around on grinding places, and ban the bots they see first. after reaching 1k bots, they close sro and start watching porn .

i would rather have player bots banned, cause they are the ones that finance the gold bot companies . anyway, seeing the last massive bot ban, banning gold bot wont make any difference .

Ban the gold bots, they infinately piss me off more than someone that lvls fast.

+1, the player bots are supporting the gold companies and/or running the many clientless gold bots themselves...so better to ban them. And gold bots banned isnt as effective because they can just be easily remade without much worry for equip.

Although banning any of them helps

Player bans lead to less money for them but... If they would choose one over the other player bots are the way to go. More of a chance of them quitting forever if they are banned then making new characters. Plus they have the chance to score in on huge boosts in sales if the bots do come back, but that is a gamble for them.

Ban gold bots and the server will be easy. Also If you watched the gold sites their prices jump drastically when gold bots are banned. So if you ban their bots then no one will be able to afford gold. Back in 70 cap gold was $1.00 for 1 mill, now its like $3.00 for 10m. When they banned those gold bots it went up $20.00.

Its Fun to watch the prices when bots get banned.

ok heres the secret, but dont tell anyone..

they select all the non-silk buyers, then they de-select 70% of then, and rest of them are banned and posted on the website

Gold bots needs to be taken out but even then it'll take a month or so for the economy to recover.

Are you referring to non-silk buying botters or non silk buyers in general...if it's the second one I better watch out!! O_O

Im Sure that if we had a choice of either ban the gold bots, or players bots. People would choose the gold bots first. Because if there were no gold bots, we'd be able to log in and play to keep up to player bots

Goldbots are sooo annoying. No matter where you are under Lv70 mobs, it's almost guaranteed there's going to be gold bots.

Player bots, well yeah, they bot, they're annoying. However, a lot of them are quite nice. I'm not at all defending bots, I'm just saying, just because THEY bot, doesn't necessarily make them bad PEOPLE.

well for me as long as more and more SRO gamers who do not bot are enjoying the game now...it is still a victory (albeit a small one, imho) even if those who bot still run around looking like deranged lunatics....

The ban bots the same way my kindergarden teacher choose who got to stand at the front of the line.....she put the class list on top of her head and said...."round and round and round she goes and where she stops nobody knows" And what ever name her pencil stopped on got to be the line leader. I am convinced they stole her idea, because there is not much logic to who they ban. lol

I really doubt that GMs in game check every banned bot.

It is rather unsurprising to see the vote tallies. Everyone is like oh yes ban more gold bots so I can log in 2 days easy. Do you realize how stupid that sounds? No offense but very. You ban 2K gold bots off each server and for 2 days the player bots will be busy making new accts to get their farming fleets back up. Then you are back where you started. Ban 2K player bots off each server and it will take months for them to recover. Do it often enough and they will give up. Once they give up do it to the gold buyers. Once they give up the gold bots will follow. It really is that simple. There are alot less player bots and gold buyers than there are farmers. And while gold bots as a symptom appear the most visible they are only a symptom. Banning farm bots is like giving someone with a cold a bandaid.
