Is ventrilo considered not legit? If you use ventrilo during a guild war or fortress war, is that cheating? Isn't having an advantage in silkroad not good? To have an advantage over other people meaning people that don't have microphones or ventrilo servers to chat on. Sorry if this is dumb, I know some of your reactions so prewarning: please don't flame.
ok I understand vent is legit now what's this mean about PK2?

Having a NO-DC client is illegal because it alters the client. It's not really a 3rd party program but if you read the games terms of service you agreed to when you made an account you would see that altering the client in ANY way is illegal and you can be banned for it.
The reason the game closes itself after you being disconnected for server traffic is because if it didn't people would just hammer away at the login servers until they got in. It's not that Joylax doesn't want you to play, they don't want people overloading the login server by sending too many requests to connect at once or sending them too fast.
Any alteration of the client, any kind of editing to the PK2 file system gives Joylax a legitimate reason to block your account since you basically agreed not to change any of those files. If they ever implement an active file scanning program that scans the game files for changes while the game is loading and you have a NO-DC client or an otherwise altered client it won't let you connect. Then you're going to either get banned, or have to download a whole new client or undo the changes if you want to be able to play.

No, I dont think so. Its good communication. I use vent/teamspeak when I play all games that dont have VOIP.

if i remember the euro update correctly, you can only talk to people fo teh same job while jobbing
but if vent, you'll bypass that; so in theory you can sell your trading party out to thieves, like ghosting in CS

I couldn't play this game with out vent. Its to quite, also its easier to get to know someone if you can hear them. Then you arent talking to someone who says they are a girl but are really a 50 year old bald guy.

Vent is not a program that interferes with SRO.
It has not altered the client in anyway to give you and advantage.
Thats like saying that iTunes gives me an advantage cuz it makes me grind faster or smthing

Doesn't really help much in SRO but yeh it is still legit. It might be a 3rd party program but it isn't an illegal one.
