build plans

i'm just wondering...does anyone ever just make a character without making some kind of plan of how to spend each and every stat point and when and where to farm, etc... i mean what's the fun in playing if you know exactly how your character is gonna turn out. besides how do you know that a fixed amount of stat points in some logic order will beat randomly set points?

all those builds kinda ruin the game, everyone is the same. it's become so boring.

/end rant

That is why i never do a "normal" build. Right now my freshly made blader is perhaps the most unique blader on Oasis, i got both cold and fire imbues, i got the Force Mastery for res/therapy/vital spots and i'm thinking of starting to level Heuksal to become a dual weapon blader. While i know how my build is going to be at the 80 cap(probably an 80 bicheon/80 fire/80 cold/60 lightning blader) i don't have the slightest idea of how its actually going to turn up. What if i like being a dual weapon blader? What if i like Force so much i decide to drop Ice or Lightning? What if i decide at the end to become a bowman(very unlikely :P )? If i always made "normal" builds i would have stopped playing SRO months ago, being unique is what keeps me so hooked to this game.

One of my earliest builds was a pure str glaive (main) fire/ice/light/force. Because I was learning the game, and leveling semislow, my plan was just to be versatile enough at lower levels and start to specialize as I level up.

The habit never went away tbh. I do plan what kind of build and how much sp would be needed. But just going out there and playing the game without much expectation can be really fun. Some recent builds I did play around with includes bicheon/pacheon/light/ice/fire (pure int); 2h warrior/cleric/wizard (pure str); and my main char rogue wizard (lol).

Majority of players want a winning build, a cookie cutter build tried and tested is usually a safe choice. What good is it, when you get bored getting there?

I had several hybrids before starting my main character on Troy. Most of them sucked big time. :D Then I wanted to level fast so I started an archer with only 2 masteries, pacheon and lightning. I was way into the 50s when I started leveling force which I dropped later and fire. In the end I maxed pacheon, lightning and fire, deleveled force to 0 and dropped lightning imbue too. I even switched from garment to protector at 65. Well, I didn't mess with stat points, pure str all the way. 8)
My (not so) noob character is a blader just because I always wanted one. Since I have a capped char that can kill but quite bad at tanking, I'm trying to build an uber tank now. Though most people say that cold is useless for bladers, I still want to max it along with fire in order to have both defense buffs and different imbues for damage and tanking. I'm amazed to see how many people are not ice immune. Lightning? Well, it's only level 30, that's more or less enough for grinding. When I finally start jobbing on this character I'll buy speed pots from NPC. This noobie is level 62 at the moment and I love it. :)

the reason why people pick the "normal" builds is because they usually turn out the best because people have tried them before...but who knows maybe someone will stumble on to an amazing hybrid build that everyone likes...like the 70:70 bow..i mean im not a big fan of it but some people love it.
