BOTTING LEGAL ????

This is Information I found while searching at school
Botting
Silkroad boasts a considerable amount of botters. In attempts to combat this issue, "Client Altering Preventing Function" and other functions have been added.[4]
This problem had been somewhat alleviated as Joymax has in the past been blocking gold collecting bots in large amounts; 1,500 were blocked during the first exertion,[5] 1,400 in the second,[6] 1,700 in the third,[7] and 4,000 in the fourth.[8]
Yet there are still thousands of users who bot. The majority of forum threads on the Silkroad Online official website are complaints about botters. Users claim that bots hinder quest completion and overall enjoyment of the game.
The missing actions against botting, gold selling and other ways of altering the regular game play by Joymax does cause a lot of frustration among the players. Many players rumor that Joymax allows the botters due to lack of action against them. The often announced "WAR AGAINST BOTS" never exceeded the block of gold bots without implementing a solution to avoid them to come back, since blocks are account-based, not IP-based.
And now it seems that Joymax completely gave up on it, they have even deleted "no botting" from their ToS, making it actually legal. So legits better hope that better games come out in the near future

Dont believe me look for yourself. .

Wikipedia is pretty unreliable as it's the users who create and edit the pages themselves. But I read through that page and i'd have to agree with majority of the points he made.

Its easy to tell they have given up, they havent really done anything yet about the gold bots even if they are coming back. pretty soon all the names will be used up and they cant make bots with the same name.

They let the community run the game, and have instituted a hand-off approach pretty much.
Not that its a bad thing, its just people are too lazy to go and get rid of bots themselves. Most people anyways.

All the names? It's up to twelve characters, with numbers and capitals. 10 numbers, 26 lowercase letters, and 26 uppercase letters, and underscores, and whatever else..you do the math. Also, Joymax still has the 'no botting' area in their TOS.
2. Users found to be using or distributing illegal programs may be subject to restrictions of their account or have their account deleted. In particular cases, the user may be subject to investigation by the proper authorities.
As stated in the Operation Policy..anyway, wikipedia is definitely not a reliable source.

OH NO BOTTING IS NOW LEGAL! I BETTER LET THAT RUIN MY FUN AND QUIT THE GAME
its basically always been legal considering they havent ever done anything about it. not a big deal
you get what you pay for. this is a free game so if u dont pay for anything dont expect good service. for those of you who DO pay for silk, i dont know why you support such a bad company.

You can't get rid of botters. You can only delay it. And here's to a future post that's ganna go "ZOMFGZ WOW HAS NO BOTS!". Lies. People bot up characters and puts them up in ebay.
Deal with the bots or go play a game that isn't mmorpg. Still ganna have hackers. I guess then its back to console games.
@Above. Don't bring in the "Free" excuse. Outspark, K2Network, etc etc host free games and they have good customer service. Free or not. They're still supposed to give good service. When you accept a free sample of something do you expect it to be shitty and worthless? Of course not. Same with free games with premium(Item Mall) in it.

I have a link in my signature, it would aide you to click it. Botting in sro is not Legal, nor is it Illegal. Because Joymax has not defined what they consider Illegal they are not liable to ban botters. In my eyes and IMO botting is BAD! in the eyes of most of sro its "I don't care how people
play the game" emphasis on play (Irony: their not playing

)

Ppl can do anything in the game, not going to get banned for it there.
If buying silk then account is safe even from inactivity deletion.

JM like any other game company, has game designers, developers, and marketeers. As a company providing a service, they laid out a set of rules for customers to abide to. To an extent this is dictated by JM and its customers (via their Marketeering team). When the game was in its infancy, there were more legit players than botters. It was in JM's best interest to appease the majority of their customers.
Right now, the balance has swung to the other end. A change in the wording of the ToS, and their inaction on previously ban-able offenses, add up to a change in focus for JM (ie protecting revenue). The ToS change as Baro pointed out, is vague, but gives JM time to figure out what to do or not do anything at all. They can at any time do a reversal on this, and make it stark clear what we can or cannot do.
Its the customers that drive policy. There are as much potential revenue coming from legit players as there are from nonlegit players. Inaction from JM and legit players will take their gaming elsewhere, servers overrunned with bots, game eventually dies. Maybe thats why they have Dark Eden <.<. To answer if botting is illegal? It has been, and still is.

ok all I know is that Gold botting sites are idoits. If they have more bots then people, then there isnt going to be much costumers. So sooner or later people will just give up cause it takes some hours to log on which pisses me off the most. and then why buy all this good gear when its hard to find a decent place to grind when bots everywere are killing every monster on site.
