Rogues VS Warriors [Discussion][help me]

Post by Barotix »

Aight Check it:
I'm torn between rogue and warrior, i really don't know which one to pick. I have looked at so many vids, read so many guides, yet; no matter what i can't make a final decision between the two.

Aight so here is the question which one is better and why: Pls put it in these catagories pls:
Warrior:
  1. Cape PvP: info
  2. Solo PvE: info
  3. Party PvE: info
  4. Job PvP: info
  5. Pros for 1h: info
  6. Pros for 2h: info
  7. Pros for D-Axe: info
  8. Cons for 1h: info
  9. Cons for 2h: info
  10. Cons for D-Axe: info

Rogue:
  1. Cape Pvp: info
  2. Solo PvE: info
  3. Party PvE: info
  4. Job PvP: info
  5. Pros for 100% Rogue: info
  6. Cons for 100% Rogue: info

Vids: T.B.P.
Guides/Discussions: T.B.P.

so help me pls :)

THIS IS HEERAAAAAAAAAA!!! [the server i will be on ;)]
EDITS:
@Mclaine: i didn't feel like putting it in C&S or Q&A. GD is the fastest way to get quick answers. + people usually scan GD real quick before going to their usual habitat [mine being the OTL & Q&A]
@Davids, when on a thief run or guarding traders there is no safe zone so the strategy i might have to use might be different.

Well, I can break it down if you want..

Rogue, the pure str wonder. High crits and high damage, with the option to be a ranged killer or a close up damage splasher. You don't need HP sacrificing skills to be all powerful, BUT it does help. Your a fast hitter, you go in, you go out, and stay for awhile if you have the buffs on you.

Warrior, you are an iron wall. You can tank like no ones business. You do the most non-crit, constant damage over time. With 2 Handed sword, you can have KD and multiple, power hits. 1 Handed are tankers galore, with POTENTIAL for good damage. Or, if your a risky little *bleep*, go Axes, and marvel at.. whatever that weapons good for.

Finally a topic in which the person actually tells what he/she really wants.

Warrior:

Cape PvP: Definitely the most annoying build, with both KD and KB(except for axes) you can literally stop your enemy from attacking by spamming these two skills every time he tries to hit you, 2H Warriors can do catastrophic damage too.

Solo PvE: a 1H Warrior will level as slow as a Blader without a party, a 2H Warrior on the other hand will be able to do as good as a Rogue, one of my guild mates, a lv 36 2H Warrior, is soloing Bunwangs as i write this.

Party PvE: 1H = good 2H = good, as easy as that, if you're smart enough to use Vital Increase you will be loved everywhere even if you are 2H.

Job PvP: Warriors are more of a tool then a build made for fun, you will be hit extremely hard by nukers and you will be slow, on the other hand just as in PvP, if you spam KDs and KBs you will do great, at the end its all down to how you play your character.

Pros for 1h: Ultimate tanker if you use Vital Increase, its like a glavier and a blader in one.

Pros for 2h: More fun then 1H, can solo, does much better in PvP and jobbing and 2H swords look mighty nice.

Pros for D-Axe: Good looks + Stun, i don't really know a lot about dual axes.

Cons for 1h: A soloing 1H Warrior is just like a blader, which means you will level very slowly.

Cons for 2h: If you wear Heavy Armour a nuker can do simply hallucinating damage on you, be prepared to only grind on physical attacking mobs.

Cons for D-Axe: no KD and KB, which makes it much weaker in PvP/Jobbing then a 2H Warrior.

Rogue:

Cape Pvp: All depends on how you use your character, if you go under Stealth all the time, sneak on your enemies and 1 hit them, you will own, but if you simply run up to them like some sort of glavier you'll get owned unless the other guy is 10 levels below or you do a lucky crit.

Solo PvE: Xbow madness, i saw many Rogues, with decent crossbows of course, 1 or 2 hitting mobs 8-9 levels higher then them, if you take Bard as sub and you use Noise you will be the ultimate grinding machine.

Party PvE: Not quite as useful, i haven't seen many Rogues partying at high levels, most of them prefer to solo high level mobs, but at low levels you will be simply useless if there's already a Wizard in your party.

Job PvP: Extremely fun, i remember seeing a video of some Rogue, he was a hunter, went under Stealth and then went outsides Donwhang gates, then 3 thiefs come out(they can't see him), they look so tough and invincible and then all of a sudden, bam, dead one by one before they could even make a move.

Pros for 100% Rogue: Not a lot of SP required and you will still be able to do good in PvP and PvE.

Cons for 100% Rogue: You will definitely be a lot weaker, as i said before a Crossbow Rogue with Noise is the ultimate grinding machine, 1 hit mobs much higher without them all piling up on you.

I might start on Hera with you, Odin has such nooby parties that even in a party of 8 the xp comes slower then if you were soloing.

Go full melee?

If you are a warrior you won't be using subclass if you are in a party simply because you will be buffing wizards and clerics so you want the buffs on them, as a rogue, same deal pretty much. You won't go out of stealth just to use subclass skills in the first place. Stealth is a better defense than bless spell really, and overall you don't have the defense to switch and heal all the time, since KB and KD would work better in the first place.

Plus, as a rogue/warrior, you can go in with stealth kill a couple guys, and switch to warrior and tank while killing the others.

Won't be the best rogue, or the best warrior, but you can tank, kill fast, have both range and attack, and with both chars, you can save others with scron and sprint assault.

what kind of a player are you?

do you like to stand your ground, take in damage for your party mates? do you like pure melee combat? do you like the bulkiness of armor? tanks are very important to parties and at teh same time, very dependent on them.

rogues AKA first to kill, first to die. in guildwars, your main job is to take out the following: euro int builds, all chinese int, int hybrid. tanks can be really hard for you even with DD and XBOW especially euros. and if you are a rogue, you mainly work alone and you are at your best when you attack without warning.

i saw a vid once. paper>rock>scissors>paper
or ints>warrior/str>rogue>ints

i hope you choose by play style preference, i found that im a passive aggresive player, that's why rogues work for me. in group, i just DPS along side with the mage and tank, in 1vs1 i like to be sneaky. dunno if it makes sense, but i hope it helps in anyway it can.
i'm a grateful grape

I actually did that thing in Mixmax's Sig!

oO thx guys, I'm going to be a 1H warrior. I thought about it, and when it comes to PvP I'm very passive - i nvr atk unless atked except when i was using my rogue [i hated being sneaky it felt wrong]. now i wait for hera

1H Swordsman are if anything the most protected against rogues, mainly due to its mighty defensive passives, one of which compliments your shields critical parry, others will be insanely critted by Rogues, Whilst 1H Swordsman will survive a fair bit more, if thats saying anything.
